Question about HP DesignJet 500 InkJet Printer

Designjet 500 stops printing in the middle of print job

My designjet 500 will sporadically print complete posters and on the next printout, it acts as if the job is complete and will stop printing and cut the paper as if it is complete but the print job is only halfway or a quarter complete. Tried new network cables, etc. My last resort is the electronics module. Any advice?

To solve the printing problem..

# Hold the cartridge upside down, with the bar-code label facing you and take a damp paper towel.
# Use the towel to wipe the printhead of the cartridge on the bottom (where the ink comes out). Wipe the printhead horizontally in one direction only (left to right).
# Continue doing this until it looks clean.
# Then dab the cartridge on the towel to make sure the ink is flowing.
# Next, look inside the printer and locate the carrier that holds ink cartridges. Caution: Make sure the cartridges are not installed at this point.

1. Look for a shiny piece of metal underneath the contacts at the back of the carrier.
2. Take a damp cotton swab (use water only!) and wipe along the bottom of the shiny metal piece. Note: You may need more than one swab.

# Reinstall the cartridges, making sure you snap them correctly into the printer.

I have a HP Designjet 70 printer and lately it will only print one job at a time. I have to turn it off and then turn it on for each poster I print.

when its feeding paper from the cassette - does it retry 2 or three times before the paper is pushed into place?
This is the most common call on the small plotters, feed rollers either dirty or worn down (smooth no treads), also bloew where the rfeed roller silts , attached to the tray is a small rubbery pad- known as the sep pad - this may also need cleaning/replacing

My HP 800ps designjet is making a constant clicking noise near the ps card and will not print. I've tried everything from reloading driver & firmware to checking print heads and settings. Nothing seems...

Sounds like your power supply bit the dust. The power supply on this printer is similar to a PC power supply in appearcnace and is pretty easy to replace. You can download the service manual and take a look at the procedure if you are inclined to do the repair yourself or have someone do it for you. www.lpscomputer.com/ec/manuals.htm

The part can be purchased here: http://www.lpscomputer.com/c-643-designjet-500-510-800.aspx

Check the amount of RAM in the Printer using the Front Panel buttons.
install more memory into the Formatter or
try processing the file in the PC instead
of the Printer (select Avoid out of memory in Advanced options in the driver)
good luck.

Due to its special nature, the scratch pool should not be directly targeted by any policy. Ensure that all policies and schedules specify a volume pool other than the scratch pool; then run the job again.

In my experience with Adobe products and DesignJet Printers, you have to go to Effects in the Printing Preferences and change Resizing Options from Actual Size to Print Documents On: page size that you want.

It's a weird bug that never seems to get fixed.
