Speakers making loud pitchy noise

My harmon/kardon computer speakers are making a loud pitchy noise when turned on. Even when I disconnect the speakers and plug them back in the noise is still there. The fuse still looks ok.

This is a problem in the surround section, replace caps c59 (10uf@50v), c63 (220uf@16v), c64(100uf@16v). Also check for any other caps in the area

If they are computer speakers try this: (remember i am doing this from a windows vista) on the bottom right hand of the screen there should be a volume key right click on it and click on playback devices then right click on your speakers and click properties and go to levels and turn down the volume from there and see does that work... hope this helps.

I am having the exact same problem with my Harmon kardon PC speakers. It is related directly to the speakers (subwoofer). If you plug head phones into the headphone jack on the satellite speaker you will not hear the noise. I am still searching for a solution, I love these speakers!

Try another boosted speaker set. Then check.
Something is probably wrong in the speakers, not worth fixing...they are pretty cheap to buy.

Harmon kardon hk695-01,13 - Intermittent "gargling" noise

the noise is sometimes caused by dust in the volume control.
i would suggest blowing the dust out around the volume control if there is a manual control on the unit. use a small can of compressed air.. buy it at local walmart or computer store.

Here is the support section for Harmon Kardon

I don't know if there supported anymore but you might be able to find what youre looking for on EBay. You could try plugging the speakers into a seperate outlet and see if the noise is caused by electrical interferance. Make sure your microphone is muted if your not using it. It might be time for a new pair of speakers too.

Harmon Speaker distortion

Hi, I came across a similar problem with an old Altec and the the solution was to only replace the defective side. Actually, what was replaced was only the speaker itself inside the enclosure which was cheaper rather than replacing the entire assembly. An electronics technician (not necessarily a computer tech) can do the job since some soldering might be involved.
