Since buying this house 3 yrs ago I cannot find replacement filters to save my life. I have been to home improvement stores, grocery stores, and department stores. I bought one of those lifetime filters at Lowe's that only needs monthly cleaning but does not require replacement but I am not pleased with it. I would like to find the filters for this model but it has been quite a hassle. To make matters worse I apparently lost thw paper I had which detailed the dimensions for the filter. Does anyone know how I can find the dimensions and a filter for this air conditioner? The model number is FY4ANF048 and the serial number is 1906A84446. Thank you!

There could be a few things causing these problems. How old is the sand in the filter? Filter sand looses its filtering ability after 3-5 years and needs to be replaced. If the sand needs to be replaced, make sure you get actual pool filter sand. A lot of big box and home improvement stores sell play sand as filter sand. That will cause your pool to stay cloudy and never clear up. If the sand is less that 3-5 years old, you may need to clean it with a liquid filter cleaner that is poured through the skimmer. This works quite well!
Another issue causing the cloudiness and bubbles could be the type of chemicals you are using. I know that shock from big box and home improvement stores cause the water to be cloudy. Algaecides from these stores also cause foaming.
It's not necessary to replace it with a paper filter like the one that got wet. You can replace it with a foam type mesh filter, that is washable. All you need is the size (length & width) and you pickup one up at any home center or hardware store.
Please check the filter. The filter is located behind the front grill. If there is a lot of dust & dirt on the filter, it will reduce the airflow over the coil significantly - causing freeze ups. A filter that is missing will require a thorough cleaning of the coils to remove the dust and dirt, then installing a replacement filter. There are products sold at hardware stores, home improvement centers, etc. designed specifically to clean these coils easily. You should be able to get a replacement filter for the AC from Sears.
If the filter is present and clean - there could be a problem with the refrigerant charge, or other problem. Many times, an AC units of this small size, it is cheaper to buy new than invest in repairing a 3 year old unit.
