Replace Damaged AC Power Jack

I have diesassembled the laptop to the point that the keyboard panel and the bottom panel (case) are seperated all around the periphary of the laptop. There is still a connection in the center of the laptop at about the location of the K key on the keyboard.  How to I desassemble this final connecting structure so I can have access to the motherboard and replace the AC adaptor jack a.k.a. dc jack?

I have replaced alot of jacks in similar models as this one.

I don't have one in front of me, but, assuming you have removed the power button/hinge cover plastics, removed the lcd, removed the keyboard and then removed the palmrest plastics.... you now have a base with the motherboard still in it. There are a few screws that attatch the motherboard to the bottom black chassis. Just have to carefully look around the board for them and remove them. Also, might need to remove the lugs on the back where the video connector and paralell port is located. And disconnect a couple wires here and there.

If you had pics available, I might could be of more help. Trying to get a mental picture of what your talking about. I have taken apart alot of these, and can usually get one down to a bare mainboard within 5 minutes easily.

Are you still needing help with it?

And double check from the bottom side that you have removed all of the screws. As well as the top side. I think you may have just overlooked one.

How do I fix loose ac jack on acer extensa 5620z?

Hi,

If your laptop is under warranty or has a service contract, I would send it in for service according to the terms of sale. If your ac jack is loose you should check the cord in case the end is damaged and if your power cord isn't damaged you need to check the screws and connection and that's going to require removing the battery and the bottom cover of your laptop. It isn't difficult to replace most of the hardware in the Acer laptop, but you'll be exposing circuit boards and wires and there are all kinds of things that can be damaged if you're not careful, so I don't recommend taking apart your laptop unless you are certain you can replace the hardware without damaging other sensitive components. I really suggest that you have someone qualified in computer repair take a look at your laptop.
Also, once you open the back cover or take apart anything on your laptop you will void your warranty. most laptops have stickers and tabs placed on your laptop and once you remove the sticker it causes damage to the sticker and it lets the manufacturer know that you've attempted to repair it and that voids the warranty.

Once you check those see if the battery works, it may need replacing. Good luck!

Amilio laptop not charging in spite of new charger

please measure the output for your charger, normally they have 19.5 vdc exactly, if they do not measure the adapter is faulty, repair or replace. If the output is o.k the battery can be faulty. Use the software diagnostic coming with the computer, restart the computer HOLD the key f2 or esc depending of your computer model, and make the diagnostic.try again and see what is the result, if the battery is o.k or faulty.God bless you

Toshiba laptop will not turn on

Here below are possible causes and troubleshooting steps of laptop that can't power on, hope it may help:
Possible causes:

1. AC adapter failure.
2. Power jack failure.
3. Motherboard failure.

Possible troubleshooting steps and repair solutions:
1. Test the AC adapter with a digital multimeter. It's possible that you have a failed AC adapter. If you don't have a multimeter, test your laptop with another known good AC adapter.

2.It's possible that power jack (socket where you plug the AC adapter) is broken. Remove the motherboard and take a closer look at the power jack. In some cases you can fix the jack by resoldering it on the motherboard. In other cases you have to replace the jack with a new one. Using a multimeter, test if the power goes to the motherboard through the jack.

3. If replacing the AC power adapter and jack on the motherboard doesn't help, most likely you have a bad motherboard. Replace the motherboard.

Acer Extensa 5620: The power supply jack is loose when you plug it into the laptop. Sometimes it will provide power and sometimes it will not (orange battery light on front of laptop goes on & off)....

System check
1. estimate the extent of damage, possibly requires entire board replacement housing the extension power supply modulators, possibly due to physical damage on contact.
2. Aslo check the battery life since could determine the possibilty of substituting power chord from currrent outlets with batteries

The device would not connect to power outlet without a properly functioning battery installed. A depleted battery could not be replaceble by connecting a source out power outlet. each parts of the power complement the entire process of achieving computer experiece.

Consult a technician insisting the replace the entire power system of battery and ac adapters and also fixing damages on the mother board may be contributing to power leakage

How do I access the DC Power Jack on a Dell Latitude C510?

I assume you mean to replace it. You need to take all the screws out of the bottom, check under the battery too. Remove the hard drive, keyboard bezel keyboard, Remove all the screws under the keyboard except the cpu heat sink. Seperate the halfs & you should be able to remove the board. Now you can solder a new jack in. Good luck!

Power problem

You need to remove the screws on the bottom of the laptop. Once the right screws are removed the case will seperate exposing the MOBO and that and you should see the dc jack (power jack) as forwarning, almost ALL dc jacks are sodered to the motherboard..and not easy to successfully replace.
