You can burn your own bootable disc.

If you have any original Windows CD. It would be helpful. The CD rom that you got in your drive is not bootable. the ntdlr is a boot record file that is corrupted in your case.

Repairing the OS will solve the problem, with a format during install. There might be some bad sectors in your HDD.

Get some bootable OS disc, insert it and make sure your CDROM functions well. And follow the on screen instruction to make a clean install.

Thank you!

Insert the windows cd
Let the setup load completely into the partitions
When you see the partitions highlight the windows partition
Then press the R key
This will start a repair installation and should reinstall the missing files for you
Please let me know the results so we can continue if this does not work

Can I reset it back to factory setting with out a CD or DVD

If the restore partition is still on the hard disk then press Alt and F10 just before it boots. Otherwise try T8 just before it boots. If this fails try Creating a System Rescue USB drive (Note: An alternative to the spyware-laden Daemon-tools for mounting the ISO file as a virtual CD-ROM is Virtual CloneDrive). If you have trouble with the System Rescue CD, you can try some other distros.
Reboot the netbook and go into the Acer BIOS settings. Change the boot settings to check USB first. Plug in your System Rescue stick, and restart the netbook.
Run "wizard", and launch gtparted (icon towards the lower-left of the screen).
Delete partition 2, create a new one, then reformat it as NTFS
Mark partition 1 as bootable (right-click, edit flags). Remove USB drive.
Reboot into the Acer System Restore software. Choose to restore the system.
Plug the System Rescue USB drive back into the Acer netbook.
Reboot into the System Rescue CD/USB, go back into gparted, and flag the restored partition 2 as bootable.
Remove USB flash drive and reboot.
Hope that helps.

The image it the top left corner, a cursor? Is there any Media in the DVD rom? CD? DVD? No, Repeat the restore process. You did a restore to a earlier date? Or a Full Factory Restore? Unplug, remove battery, plug in, reboot. Any Change?

I cannot start my laptop, its say no bootable cd in atapi cd-rom and ntldr is missing-acer travelmate cl51

Either the boot record is corrupted or the drive is bad. You will need to reinstall the OS with your OS cd or restore your system to factory setting.

I get a black screen that say: Realtek PCI Express Gigabit Ethernet Controller Series v2.26 (090219) PXE-E61 media Test Failure check cable ****-MOF: Exiting PxE ROM No Bootable device- insert boot disk...

Apparently, the HDD has failed, that's why it doesn't find a bootable device and you can't restore te factory settings. You can try getting Hiren's Boot CD and use the testing tools to scan and fix the drive. Sometimes it just gets corrupted and returns to RAW format and just needs a format ( unfortunately you will lose all your data).

My computer wont start...it keeps saying missing NTLDR?...what do i do?

Many times this error is caused when the computer is attempting to boot from a non-bootable floppy disk or CD-ROM. First verify that no floppy diskette is in the computer, unless you are attempting to boot from a diskette.
If you are attempting to boot from a floppy diskette and are receiving this error message it is likely that the diskette does not have all the necessary files and/or is corrupt.
If you are attempting to install Windows XP or Windows 2000 and are receiving this error message as the computer is booting verify that your computer BIOS has the proper boot settings. For example, if you are attempting to run the install from the CD-ROM make sure the CD-ROM is the first boot device, and not the hard disk drive.
Second, when the computer is booting you should receive the below prompt.
Press any key to boot from the CD
Important: When you see this message press any key such as the Enter key immediately, otherwise it will try booting from the hard drive and likely get the NTLDR error again.
Note: If you are not receiving the above message and your BIOS boot options are set properly it's also possible that your CD-ROM drive may not be booting from the CD-ROM properly. Verify the jumpers are set properly on the CD-ROM drive. Additional information about checking the CD-ROM drive connections can be found on document CH000213.
Additional information: This error has also been known to occur when a memory stick is in a card reader and the computer is attempting to boot from it. If you have any type of card reader or flash reader make sure that no memory stick is inside the computer.

No bootable cd in atapi cd rom drive when i boot my laptop and also says media test failure check cable

if you can remove your cd drive there should be a button that you can hold to one side to take it out - if your laptop is not under warranty then there may also be some screws you can remove to take the cd drive out and re insert it to make sure its seated firmly.

Also just a simple thing - you have not left any cd in the drive have you ?

Sometimes if i forget to set the bootable order back to booting from the hard drive and I have the cd drive set to the bootable drive only and there is a disc in the drive or nothing in the drive it will display that so may be worth while checking your bios to see what boot order it has and disable the cd drive as the bootable drive if its in the list and set your hard drive to be the bootable device.

Can't swich on laptop after restarting it.

You have a non-bootable CD in the CD drive and the startup sequence is looking at the CD drive before the hard drive. Remove the CD and you should be able to boot.
