Question about Nokia 6220 classic Smartphone
Bear in mind that the Barcode scanner will not read 1 dimensional barcodes (The kind you get on groceries - a series of vertical lines with numbers under them), it reads 2D Barcodes which are shown as a square made up of a cluster of dots
is an example of the type it reads.

When you are scanning it will show a yellow box of the area it is trying to scan.

I believe your phone uses the camera to take a picture of the barcode, and then the software on the phone resolves the barcode. Within the barcode program, you should be able to take a picture of the barcode with the internal camera, and it should recognize it. Some further information available here:
