My Printer won't print on 4x6 Photo gloss paper

I own an Epson Stylus CX7400 printer, and I recently had to print out some pictures. I was using 4x6 glossy photo paper I could not find the company that made it. However I inserted the paper on the right side of the paper insertion area and moved the slider over the hold the paper, even after I set the printer to print on ''4x6 premium gloss photo paper'' and hit print, it would not even attempt to print, the printer just rolled the paper out, but when I flipped the paper horizontally and set it to print with the same settings but with landscape selected it actually started printing, but it only printed one half of the paper like it was still set to portrait.

Thanks in advance

Open your top paper tray drawer and there should be a dial on the on the tray drawer (light blue). On there is different paper sizes. Turn it until you get "Ltr" and the paper is going up & down. This should fix the problem. We just had that same problem today and that's what the tech person told us. (Also, this dial only turns in one direction to the left). MMc

SOURCE: printing 4x6 photos on photo paper

Sorry but your question seems to be unclear.
Here are the solutions that I see:
- try fixing the orientation of your paper on the printer:
-- go to printer "properties" then select "paper" then set it to
landscape or portrait. You might just have to cut the extra
papers
- try changing the paper size on the printer "properties" if it has
no 4x6 then choose "custom size"

SOURCE: epson stylus pohoto 830u paper feed

I'm afraid this series of printer (810 -830) doesn't handle heavy photo paper well - which is a bit strange for a so-called photo printer. If you hold each sheet and help it to feed it will work. But ...... for goodness sake. Your best bet is to sell it on e-bay and buy something that will handle heavy paper.

Hi Juliet

EPSON STYLUS 1400 INKJET PRINTER PHOTO PAPER AND PRINTER SETTINGS

Formulating solutions based on remote diagnostics with just the detail in the question to go by is an inevitably imprecise science. We therefore aim to give our suggestions as wide an ambit as possible to cover all possible scenarios, abilities and experience levels. I suppose the best approach to initial FixYa solutions is to see them as an options list from which you can cherry pick the most relevant and practical ones. The Comment Box then provides the opportunity to fine tune the information flowing both ways. An updated picture after implementation of the relevant suggestions and additional background (such as whether the printer printed properly before and what paper choice of print setting changes since then may have caused the problem to first occurr, the remedies you have already tried, the specifications of you computer and its Opreating System) can then lead to more tailored suggestions.

There are many different types of Photo Paper and your Epson Printer has different Print Settings for each type. Matte paper, at the microscopic level, has more surface area than smoother papers and therefore has greater absorptive properties which, in turn, require a larger than usual amount of ink in order to produce an image with good resolution, than is the case for smoother papers. So Matte setting on a less absorbent paper type can cause excess ink issues and the problems you describe. The correct setting for each type of paper is the setting matching what is printed on the packaging of each respective type of paper (fabric, textured, matte, soft gloss, semi-gloss, gloss, high gloss, ultra gloss, premium gloss, etc).

Start > Control Panel > printers and faxes > right click on Epson Stylus 1400 icon > printing preferences > main > select 'Photo' or 'Best Photo' > click on the arrow next to 'Type' to reveal the drop down menu to select each Photo Paper Type you test > Apply > OK > restart printer > test Photo Printing again.

It is, for creative reasons, possible to deliberately use mismatched Photo Papers and Print Settings for artistic effect, but the results are unpredictable and matte settings for smoother, less absorbent papers can cause similar problems to those you describe. My advice to you would be to buy a variety of small packs of different papers to experiment with. Your enhanced aesthetic instincts will help you identify the best paper for the outcome you envisage. As a place to start, please consider examples of potential paper ideas by clicking on or copy/pasting-to-browser the links/URLs below:

So, please just set the printer settings to match each type of paper you trial to be 100% safe but there is also some margin for experimentation. With this in mind, you should be fine.

I hope this helps.

You can just use 81/2 X 11. When you get ready to print, you can choose whatever size you like from the Printing Wizard.

Epson stylus k3 r2400

Hi Lisa
The R2400 has the choice of two black inks, MK and PK. One is for Matt printing, the other (called photo black) is for gloss.
If the printer has the matt cartridge fitted it only allows suitable options, including paper choice, to be selected. If you change the black cartridge from the MK to the PK one, you should then have the choice of gloss paper.

Prints pictures too dark

II have had the same problem and it relates(at least to me) the type of paper yuo are using and the settings you place on the paper. With high glossy photo paper I was using the setting for that and then I switched to photo and text and set it for plain photo paper.

If that does not work then save the image to a photo soiftware such as windows fax and viewer and print it through that. You can lighten it especially for high gloss photo paper. Good luck This worked for me, The gloss photo settings made all m,y photos way too saturated on glossy photo paper.and much too dark.
