Does the server have a RAID controller or just a SCSI controller? Are you running an array or individual drives?

Replace the hard drive with a drive that is the same type and the same size, or larger. It will rebuild itself.

By same type I mean that the connector on the back of the drive and the speed of the drive interface must be the same. If the new drive spins at a different rate it will not create a problem, except that if it is slower it will make read/writes slower. If it is larger it will only use part of its capacity, matching the capacity of the other drives.

Note that if you were to replace all drives with larger drives (one at a time) the capacity of the entire array would be the same as the original. If you want a larger array it must be built from the start with that larger capacity.

Take out the bad drive. If you can get the exact same drive, do it, otherwise look it up on the manufacturers web site to find out size and type.

While there are a few possible RAID configurations that you could be using on that server, the chances are overwhelming that it is RAID level 5 that you are using. This RAID level is tolerant of a single drive failure. If you lose another drive before your new drive rebuilds your data will be lost. Hopefully you have a backup.

RAID 5 stripes the data and the parity data across all available drives and when a drive fails, the missing data is rebuilt on the fly from the parity data. When a replacement drive is installed the parity data is used to rebuild the data that belongs on that drive. The advantages of RAID 5 are fault tolerance (of a single drive) and speed because each drive only has to provide or write its portion of the total data being accessed or written.

Physical disk not found

Move into Raid Controller bios (ctrl +c)
Check other hard drives are visible.
If yes, you may insert disk in other free slot and see if it detects on that slot. If same issue then particular hdd may be faulty. You have to replace it
If no, turn off server, reset scsi and power cables.
Turn on server and see if it detects hard drives. If server has same issue then either scsi cable or hdd back plane may be faulty. Chance is more for hdd back plane

Thanks

Sata HDD NOT DETECTING IN XP SETUP

If you're using a scsi card and connecting the hard drive to the card you need to have the scsi set-up floppy disk. When the blue screen starts during windows installation watch the bottom of the screen. It will tell you to press F6 key then to insert the floppy disk.
If you're using a sata drive connected directly to the motherboard (not in a raid configuration) you shouldn't need anything but the windows disk. The motherboard drivers and utilities disk should have the files to create the scsi install disk.

Error beep sound on server, conf:Intel server motherboard se7520bd2 2 gb ram scsi harddrive problum:long beep sound in LSI LOGIC CARD

I don't think SCSI card give beep error codes. If you listed this item, most likely this is the problem and your MB is telling u this. Your SCSI card is most likely damaged. Try to make sure it is inserted in the pci slot properly. If it is....buy a new one. We rarely use SCSI cards any longer as most Servers have plenty of HDD space and the Hot Swappable options make them easy to replace if they get damaged.

As a tech, I would first check the Mother Board (BIOS) Beep Error codes to determine exactly what the problem is. Those beeps tell u what hardware is malfunctioning.

OS Loaded on SCSI HDD Cashed

If the Bios did not detect the third drive, try switching it to a known working slot and see if you have a bad drive, or something wrong with the cage or cabling. The 3000 were shipped with either a 68 pin drive cage or a 80 pin drive cage. The 68 pin drives and the 80 pin drives are not interchangeable. To make matter worse, the drive cage would be configured as simplex or duplex. For duplex mode, you will need to connect two SCSI cables to the cage.
