I accidentally pressed yes to format and now lost all my pictures is there anyway of recovering them? when i remove my memory card a couple of the pictures are there still. i am gutted as there were holiday pics on there and from a family christening please help!!!!
There are many programs that will be able to recover your files, the best one is Migo Digital Rescue but I have also used Recover My Files with good results. The best FREE software I have used is called Recuva but I have also heard people recommend Panda Recovery. Hope this helps!

Well, don't panic! Nowadays, the formatting
process will not actually erase all the contained data on a camera memory card
as we think. These deleted pictures are still there and become invisible. So,
act carefully to get these deleted photos back:
1. Stop using this camera right now in case that any new file on it may overwrite your deleted files.
2. Insert this camera to your computer.
3. Download a camera memory card data recovery freeware to retrieve all your lost photos back.
This professional camera recovery freeware has helped many people around me restore their inaccessible data off from a phone/camera memory card or hard drive. It could be a good choice for you to go on.
Try to read more detailed information of this camera data recovery freeware here:
4. Do not save or back up all the restored data on the same camera in case of any data loss.

SOURCE: lost pictures
When a solid state disk as a memory card is formatted using the camera menu option, or perforing a Fast Formatting with a computer, the File system on media is deleted and overwritten.
If a complete format is done using a computer, the clusters containing data are erased before formatting. In that case there is no way to recover the data files.
Often there is no way to recover data from a formatted Disk or Memory card.
Try following the instructions on website below:
recover data from formatted Hard Drive?
