Re: Amana refrigerator only not working

Few questions first. 1.  What is the entire model # on the sticker inside the fridge section?  2.  Is the fan in the freezer running?  3.  Is there a thick frost build up on the back panel in the freezer (look at the bottom half for a side by side)?

most likely you have a bad damper,go here to see it
all that happens is the evaporator coil in the freezer gets cold, the evap fan blows the cold air to the fridge section and it goes through the damper, when it gets cold enough in the fridge section the thermostat on the damper closes the damper door, your damper broke in the closed position, this is as long as the door wasn't left open or anything like that,if it was the air ducts could have froze up but most likely it will be the damper.go here and it will show you where it is up near the light in the back and it's part number 18.hope this helps

Refrigerator stopped cooling but the freezer still works fine

you should have sent the model number so i could look up your machine, open the freezer door,do you hear the fan blowing in the freezer?if not you have a bad evap fan motor,if the fan is good you could have a bad damper located in the fridge section, all that happens is the evaporator coil in the freezer gets cold, the evap fan blows the cold air over into the fridge section,it could just go through an air duct or through a damper,if there is a damper most likely this is your problem or check the back inside wall of the freezer and see if there's any frost on it,you could have a defrost problem or the door could have been left open and the air ducts frose up,also if the freezer is on top you could have a blocked drain in the freezer and the air ducts are iced up,look under the crisper draws to see if any water is under them if so the drain is blocked.these are the things to check,if you send the model number and a little more info i can help you out better

Amana BR22VL refrigerator section stopped cooling.

is there any frost on your food packages or on the ceiling where the light is?if so the door was left open and the air vents are froze up or you have a bad damper or evaporator fan motor, open the freezer door,do you hear the fan blowing?if so the fan motor is good, check for ice on the ceiling and packages,if that checks good look at the back inside wall of the freezer,if that's covered with like snow or frost you have a defrost problem or also you have a damper in your model,it's closed and won't open to let the cold air in from the freezer.
go here, this is the part, all that happens is the evaporator coil in the freezer gets cold, the evap fan blows the cold air from the freezer up into the fridge section,in your model the damper door opens to let the cold air in,when it gets cold enough the damper closes and that's it,so if the door wasn't left open and the fan is blowing in the freezer you have a bad damper.

My Amana fridge #ARB2215CB seems to be cooling the

Your refrigerator probably has an issue with its "damper control assembly", which regulates cold air coming from the freezer compartment. Contact an appliance service company.

Amana refrigerator not cold

The fan that should circulate air between the two compartments has failed. These usually have 'sleeve' bearings which can become sticky and fail to start up without help. Go to the Sears/parts website and enter your Amana model number; if you are lucky, they will have a line drawing of your model which can aid in finding how to access the fan:
Sears Parts Dept.
They have info for thousands of non-Sears items and most can be ordered via that website as well.

Fridge not getting cold enough

The cold from the freezer is piped up to the refrigerator and if that tube gets clogged with frost or ice it will not be able to blow to the cold air into the refrigerator area. I took everything out, unpluged the unit for about 6 hours, till all the frost from the freezer was gone, wiped up all moisture and turn it back on. It worked!

The fan in the freezer blows its air through the COILS in the freezer. If the coils are plugged with frost, there will be no breeze coming into the fresh food compartment. One other thing i have seen on Amana and Sears, is that the fan slips on the motor shaft. Make sure the fan blade is tight on the shaft.

The refrigerator is not keeping tempurature. Freezer is working fine

Either the freezer fan has stopped blowing air or the defrost timer has stopped and the airways to the fridge are clogged with ice. Only the freezer gets cold in a refrigerator. The fridge part gets cold by cold air being blown through air passages from the freezer. Good Luck!!

Bottom of freezer/fridge only getting cold.

Thre is a fan inside the freezer which circulates the cold air around both the fridge and the freezer compartments.
You should be able to feel cold air blowing around the inside, particularly at the top of the freezer.
If the defrost thermostat fails open, the internal fan (depending on freezer) will stop and this can be the cause of the freezer being warm at the top and no ice.
You say the bottom of the freezer is blowing cold, but are you sure its blowing, as it can feel like a cold blow. Of course the fan could have failed or may be the defrost heater itself.
Have a look at this site for some useful trouble shooting
