Volume Knob Not Working... Jensen VM9312

So I was very pleased with this mobile video unit till today. All of a sudden my volume knob decided to go kaput. When I rotate it it just won't work. At first it was working on and off and now it just doesn't work at all. I have searched the net to see if anyone else had this problem with the VM9312 but I couldn't find any. Only the volume function does not work. If I push in the volume knob, the EQ setting comes up which it's supposed to. So I don't understand why the volume would not be working. With the remote it works fine, just the knob doesn't work. Can anyone help me? Or am I going to have to hassle for a warranty repair? Thanks in advance.

I have the same unit, your unit sounds like its defected. Mine on the other hand has a static noise coming from its speakers, does yours do that too?

On a audiovox vm9312 I lost remote and can't turn

The VM9312 has a volume knob on the unit's faceplate. Just rotate the knob on the left (a little below the optical disc D slot) clockwise to increase the volume. Turn it the opposite way to lower the volume. (If you have the knob set to the maximum volume and then lowered the volume with the remote, you may need to reset the unit; see below.) If you push in and release on this button, you press Enter or confirm a setting when you are in any audio settings menu.

If the volume control isn't working, check if the mute is on. Press once to toggle the Mute. The mute button is just below and near the right side of the optical drive slot.

If you still can't change the volume, check if you have the wiring correct and no shorted wires. Look for damage at the speakers (or evidence of mice chewing on the wires). Also check your audio balance. See the manual page 12 here: . You may also want to try a system reset. (Press and hold the reset button for a few seconds by using the tip of a ballpoint pen in the little opening at the lower right hand side of the faceplate.)

I hope this helps.

Jensen flip out head unit volume knob doesn't work . the remote works fine but just that one problem.. and i cant seem to get the DVD to play.! ( bought it used..)

it needs to be serviced by jensen or some other repair facility. there is nothing you will be able to do to get the knob to work. if it plays cd's and not dvd's thats also an issue that you can't fix by yourself. if it doesn't play cd's or dvd's then you can TRY to run an optical cleaner through it. its a cd player cleaner kit you can get at most electronics stores.

My car sterio comes on verry loud

i really hate that feature of that radio.. there is a volume set feature that allows you to set the volume to come at a certain level. you set it by
1. turning on the radio
2. adjusting the volume to the level you want
3. then pushing and holding the volume knob in until it beeps or for a few seconds.

then test it.. turn the volume up. then turn the until off, then back on and see if it went to where you set it.

hope this helps

Set the volume to the desired start up volume then hold the knob in for about thirty seconds. It should beep. The radio will then start at that volume everytime you start your car.

How to set start up volume control

I read another post that says that if turn on the unit and set the volume where you want it at startup, and then press in the volume knob until you hear it beep, that locks in the current volume as the startup volume. I just read this, so I haven't tried it myself yet. Good luck!

Jensen vm9311 dvd indash volume is loud when i turn on car

Heres the best way to fix; Quote from manual "Programmable Turn-On Volume (Pg.12) This feature allows the user to select a turn-on colume setting regardless of the colume setting prior to turning the unit off. To program a specific volume level, push and hold the VOL/LOC/DV know (6) while the yellow volume bar is displayed on the screen. The unit will beep two times to confirm your turn-on volume setting." Ah i had the same problem. I turned to the manual and it worked for me :) Good Luck, Ern
