Question about Technics SL-1200 Turntable

Tonearm not emitting signal into Serato

When i first bought the Technics SL1200mkII, The same thing happened. One of the turntables were not working properly, so I took an old Vinyl record that I had before I upgraded to Serato and It seemed fine. Then i put the Serato vinyl back on and then it worked like a charm. Now, it happened again in the middle of scratching. The cartridges are fine because i took the needle from the table that was not working correctly and screwed it onto the one that is, and it worked perfectly fine.

There is a switch that cuts off the signal when the tone arm docks.check the wiring is not broken inside and that the switch is ok.typically, red green white black red and white are plus and left ground is green and right ground is black.the collar that screws on to the head unit has 4 pins.make sure the contacts are clean.measure the wires one at a time from the tone arm to the rca plugs on the back.the green and black go to the outside collars, and the red and white go to the center pin of the rca plugs

Cant get a digital signal to run serato

It's not really a digital signal, per say. Its an analog representation of a digital signal. This is good because it's easier troubleshoot. The first thing I would try is check the ground wires. #1cause of Serato Traktor problems. If that's not it, play an analog record to see how it sounds. If you have a missing channel, clean the cartridge with a pencil eraser and inspect the stylus and try again. Restart your mixer and computer (this cycles the ground) and you should be good to go.
If not you may have bad cables that will have to be changed. See the thing about turntables is the audio signal never comes in contact with the turntables electronics. it goes from the needle through the arm and out the cables. The cartridge's signal is magnetic not line level so it needs good shielded cables. Perfect opportunity to upgrade the cheap cables from the manufacturer and you can internally ground the turntable at the same time Eliminate the annoying ground wire. It requires a bit of soldering, all amateur stuff. Youtube is filled with tutorials on changing cables and eliminating the ground wire. oh make sure you have a good shielded USB cable.

If this doesn't work I can think of more.
Give more secifics about your setup.

Serato does not recognise my technics turntable. The turntable is on and turning well but no response from serato. the arms in the serato do not move...help?

serato is a software to be used with an external soundcard it doesnt care what turntables you have. u have to a rane mixer or one that is serato capable in order to use it. then you have to go and link and sync your time codes

Computer not playing my technics table

More than likely the RCA cables need to be replaced. Torque, Serato, and all digital dj programs require a clear signal path coming from the source (turntable, cdj, etc). If it does not have a clear signal, or 1 side is louder than the other, it will not work.

You have to remember, these are analog turntables connecting to a digital system. The signal quality is different, and your RCA cables have to be prestine.

The following cables work very well for this type of configuration:

Technics 1200MKII tonearm problem

Most of your question was missing, so I'm guessing what you were going to say.

It sounds as though one of the arm pivots - one vertical and one horizontal- has worked loose or broken. They are very delicate precision parts.

Unless you are very skilled you should leave this job to a specialist turntable dealer to fix.

One cdj and one turntable

This is possible, by connecting your turntable to the Line Input on the serato box. Then just connect both to your LINE INPUT on your mixer, and set the controls on your Serato Software to LINE INPUT - NOT Phono.

Torque Problem

They actually need to be "broken in". The mk5 uses a different pitch board, allowing you to reverse, pitch up and down to 16, and lock and unlock the quartz. The mk5 is more precise, so its also more sensitive. Notice the notches on the turntable shaft behind the tonearm weight. The mk5  is just make to be finer calibrated.....your decks are fine, and more so probably your mk2s as well.

Oh and also, the infinite lubrication used on technics that was developed in the 70s is no match for the formula developed in the late 90s. Slick!!
