I assume you are using headphone for skype, but this test will work for speakers too. Open windows media player and try to play one of the pre-loaded songs. If you cant hear it check your computers volume controls (double click the speaker looking thing by the time clock, or access through control panel). Also check to make sure that the computer is not feeding the sound out through the digital output. This can be found by checking in control panel in the same place as your volume is. If it is feeding out to digital, change it to the analog output. Once you have sound with media player, you should have sound with Skype. Hope this helps
to connect speakers: You look at the back of your computer, there will be several small holes, most are color coded. the green hole is the output for speakers.
there is usually also a small arrow pointing away from the hole, this is the icon for OUTPUT. Other holes will have an icon for INPUT and for microphones.
If you have trouble seeing these things, you can just plug your speakers into the first hole. Goto YouTube and play a video, If you hear sound you have the right output. If no sound, try the speakers in the next hole. Continue until you hear the sound.
( this will not hurt the computer or the speakers )
NOTE: make sure the volume is turned UP on the speakers and the volume is turned UP on the computer.
These are what is called line powered speakers. Some sound cards have the power to amplify the sound enough to be heard plainly, and others do not. Try adjusting the volume from the computer. If that does not work and the speakers are plugged in to the green port on the sound card, I would recommend replacing the speakers with amplified (powered) ones.
Question: Are your speakers plugged in and turned on?
First check the hardware of your speakers, that they are plugged in, to the proper speaker port. then check the device manager to see if it recognizes the sound card /speakers, it not then go to add hardware app and run it , remove sound card and replace it with windows Plug and Play running. if it recognizes it then run your program to see if the sound is playing. Good luck hope this solves your problem.
