Change capacitor C19 (33uF 63v) next to the dispaly. This capacitor goes leaky over time, and causes ripple on the display which makes it dim or even dissapear completley. Also worth doing all the capacitors near to C19 while your there just in case.

changing C19 worked for me. Some people even up rate the capacitor to 100v, but 63v id the manufacturers reccomended.

No display lights on bose lifestyle 8 home theatre. System works though.

Displays die quite often on receivers just one of those things that happens.

Bose is pretty good about repair cost and timely in their turnaround. Here is a link to the support page

I would guess a replacement display would run about $150 installed plus you will have to ship your unit to them.

They like to do "flat rate" service plans which is one of those 50/50 deals most of the time you are better off just paying for the repair versus dealing with a service contract but you will have to find out whats available for your model.

Hope that helps

Lifestyle 12, NO AUDIO and a DEAD DISPLAY

You are correct. The display unit is separate from the audio issue. I have tired to work on a few of these units over the years.

Bose is so proprietary in thier electronics and repair that the average electronics technician cannot service them.

Your only luck it to send the units in for service. If you are dead set on wanting the bose units then, $250 may be worth the repair charges to you.

If I was you, I would retire the Bose equipment and go to my local electronics store to purchase a different brand unit.

Everything works with my bose lifestyle model 5 music center but the display wont light up. Do I have a bulb out or something ? How can I fix this, its driving me nuts! Thanks for any help you can give....

According to other threads this is due to a bad capacitor (either C19 or C16). It is a 33uF capacitor rated at 25V. Needs to be replaced by a 33uF higher voltage (like 63V). Have the same issue but have not yet completed the fix. Please perform a search on the forum and you will find it. It says is on the lower left side of the console pcb.

Bose Lifestyle 5 ~ dead display fix

Hi the fix for a dead display is a faulty capacitor. Depending upon which board version you have, you need to replace the 33 uF / 63 volt capaitor. On some units this is C19 on the display board, on other units this capacitor is mounted on the main board and re-numbered, there is only one 33 uF on the unit so you should be able to find it.

Bose lifestyle 12 music center display inop

My display has not been working for years. Replaced c17 cap wich was 33uF 63 volts on lower pcb board( only one on system) . Old cap was good so this was not the problem. Replaced c16 wich was 100uF 25 volts with a 100uF 63volts. Display works, old cap read low. Both c17, and c16 are located on the lower left hand corner of the larger pcb looking from the front of the unit. Hope this helps.
