Question about Nikon COOLPIX L20 Digital Camera

Dropped camera in sand

I dropped my brand new Coolpix L20 in the sand while it was on. Now it doesn't work at all (it powers up but won't focus on anything; then won't power down). Did I kill it or can it be fixed? If fixable, would it be too pricey or better to buy new again at $115?

Hi try to reset ur camera...To do such reset, turn on the camera and hold the menu button down for longer than 5 seconds. A message should hopefully come up on your LCD asking if you want to reset the camera. Select Yes...

Lens error for coolpix l3. The lens won't retract and the camera won't work. took batteries out and put new ones in. nothing is working. is there a way to reset the camera?

Lens errors are fairly common. Usually it's sand or grit interfering with the lens extension mechanism. Or the camera's been dropped with the lens extended. Or the camera has been powered on, but the lens had been blocked preventing its extension. Or the battery ran down with the lens extended ...
Here are some troubleshooting steps that you can try that may (or may not) correct it. They only seem to work for less than 40% of the lens errors, but if the camera is out of warranty (or repair cost approaches that of the camera), they're worth that try. Some of the later steps do involve some risk to the camera, so carefully weigh your options before deciding to conduct them.

My Nikon Coolpix L20 will only delete one picture, and then the screen says "please wait" It's been over 20 mintues, and just yesterday it worked. It hasn't been dropped or anything.

Hi,

This might be a file error on the memory card.
This happens sometimes.
Save what you can from the card then format it in the camera a few times.

Hope this helps.

I dropped my Nikon COOLPIX L20 camera. After that the shutter didn't open or close well. I need to help it manually. any advice?

This is probably THE most common failure among digital cameras. There's a halfway chance of fixing it yourself, described here: http://camerarepair.blogspot.com/2007/12/fixing-lens-error-on-digital-camera.html

Pictures are all grainy and blurry. At first all pictures were great but now they are all out of focus and grainy. I don't think any settings were changed but am not sure.

Most likely causes:

The camera was dropped or damaged.
Flash is turned off when it is needed.
Lens is dirty.
ISO setting set to high.

Best bet is to take it to a camera store and let a professional check it out.

If this helps please vote for my solution.

if its brand new, then you can replace the lens array for free of service charges in the case you have all the documents. it generally happens if you have dropped the camera.
