We have a 6 month old Rinnai infinity 16 in our 1 bathroom home. The water pressure from our kitchen tap (hot water) suddenly decreased a couple of weeks ago and today it has stopped heating up. Hot water in bathroom still working. Is this a problem with our water heater?
The hot side of the faucet is most likely plugged with something that came up thru the water system. The average thankless waterheater requires at least 1/2 to 3/4 gpm flow rate for the unit to sense flow and turn on. If there is not enough flow it will not fire and heat the water. Not sure about this particular unit but a few require at least one full gallon per minute flow. So chances are that if you fix the faucet, you fix the hot water issue at the same time
Avery, if you have a good referral and you trust the person doing the referring I would call them. If all else fails contact the heater manufacturer and ask for a local service rep who is usually a qualified plumber
Zach, if everything else has pressure on the hot side and just the one sink is affected the problem is not the water heater. It is most likely that the faucet is plugged on the hot side. It could also be that the hot supply line or valve to the faucet is plugged. If you do not feel comfortable taking apart any of these components then you should definitely call a professional

SOURCE: I need the manual for a Rinnai Infinity 26 hot water system
you can get it off the rinnai web site they have a spot on there to get the internet manuel,, but from what you are saying you may need to adjust the thermostat, or the temp, remember even though you will have endless hot water it still takes the smae amount of timed for the hot water to get to your faucet,, not only that make sure your shower heads aren't holding back to much water pressure, if you don't have enough water going thru the unit it will not stay lit, if will come on and go off, judt to dstisfy the unit,, make sure the filter is clear, on the cold side there is a cap screw if you take it off there is a screen in side you just pull it out and clean it and reinstal it,,
SOURCE: hot water tap only warm water in bathroom but hot in kitchen
Usually when you are having a problem at only one fixture, and not any others it is a sign that you have a faulty fixture. Hope this helps.

Some taps are designed to release excess pressure but it could just be a dodgy tap washer that leaks when the pressure of hot water in pipe work builds. Change the tap washer in your tap, see if it fixes it, if not it's just the design.
