DV6000 Scratch sound with music CD's

The sound is very scratchy on my DV6000 (HP) when I play music CD's on the internal DVD drive. Sound is OK for music stored on HDD. Can I somehow clean my DVD drive or do I need to replace it?

Thanks,
Jay

Hey, yes its very likely the dirty lens or the cd is scratched / dirty.

try a cd lens cleaner like this one, make sure its OK for computer use.

http://www.amazon.com/Fellowes-99761-CD-Lens-Cleaner/dp/B00006B8KA

some of them are not ment for computers, the above one will do fine.

Dv6000 no sound from internal speakers

If the stereo jack works, then there is no problem with the sound card or its drivers. Your speakers have played their last, most likely some internal wiring broken as speakers themselves rarely just quit.

No Sound when I play a DVD, but I do have sound when I play a Music CD

Open your sound controls to make sure nothing is muted or set on low volume.
If that's not the case, open your audio drivers program and check to see if nothing is muted.

I believe that when copying cds etc you should not have any other programs running as to do so can effect the burning program the reverse may be true the burning program interferes with your sound program

Creative Labs CT4870 - sound from DVD drive, not from internal or CD drive

Go to my computer. Right click on your CD-ROM. Choose "Properties". Choose the hardware tab. Again hit the properties button and again the properties tab. Click on "Enable digital CD Audio for this CD-ROM device" and make sure there is a check mark in the box.
Click OK, then APPLY, then OK, and try play your audio CDs again.
You can use this so you don't need audio cables.

DVD player sound

is the dvd a retail dvd, or a copied dvd? can you play music cd's ok? if the sound is stuttering, you may have too many other programs running. Check the systme tray amd close down all other apps and icons. most likely a problem with the laptop needing more memory to play the dvd. also try another dvd player like vlc or divx.com, or xvid.org for updated player codecs.
