How do you plug up a LG DVD ROM DRD=8080B
To a desktop computer?
Depending on the connectors you either have a 4pin power connector and a 40pin ide connector.
you should have both of those on all desktop computers.
the drive could also have those flat connectors, then you would need a SATA power connector and a SATA data cable.
if your motherboard doesn't have a SATA connector then you need to get a Pci - sata card http://www.newegg.com/Product/ProductList.aspx?Submit=ENE&DEPA=0&Order=BESTMATCH&Description=pci+sata
that will give you the sata data connectors. then you need sata power for it if your computer doesn't have a flat power connector then you need to purchase a converter. http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16812189005
the drive wont need anything else, just plug it in and it should work. remember when working inside the computer always unplug all cables.
if you use the 40pin connector then you might need to check on a jumper setting incase the drive doesn't work, you can read the jumper settings on top of the drive, and on the back of the drive you should have 6 pins close to the 40pin connector, there should be a small plastic / inside metal connector jumper, set it to the correct position, master or slave, if there is another device connected in the ide cable then set it to slave. if it doesn't work that way then set it to master.
if it doesn't work on either one, then get someone to look at it.
Click start control panel, administrive tools, computer management, device manager scroll to cd/dvd rom drives right click properties then properties again then tick enable cd digital cd audio for this cd rom device or scroll to dvd regions select the no _ for your specific area
If this does not fix the problem you might try
you might have to physically unplug the leads for this cd-rom restart your computer then plug them back in this should activate the found new hardware wizard
hope this helps you
