Question about Kenwood VR-8070 7.1 Channels Receiver
I have the kenwood vr-8070 a/v receiver, it will turn on and will work for a while, but then lets say like half way through a movie, will just shut itself off and the power button will start blinking, so then i push it and it stops blinking, then push it again and turns on for a while again. It does seem a bit hot, but i have nothing sitting on top of it, and it has about 8 inches of room between the top of it and the bottom of the shelf it is under, i have no idea what is wrong, can you help me figure this out?
A very common issue with receivers turning themselves off derives from a power overload caused by shorting across the speaker wires. Check each wire to make sure there are no breaks and that the ends of the wires are cleanly separated (no errant strands accidentally touching between positive and negative) at both the receiver end and the speaker end. One easy way to test it is to just use different wires and see if it happens anymore. Another unlikely possibility is that the receiver may be set to a different resistance setting than your speakers (say, 4 ohm instead of 8 ohm)--though modern receivers tend to have internal ways of recognizing and dealing with that.
