fletch552, this just happen to me. Ihave the same camera Canon PowerShot TX1. It started on 2009/Juneand finally broke on 2009/July. I had this camera for less than ayear and I take good care of it too. I am so upset. Since thiscamera is so new I suggest you try to contact the seller and if thatfails then go directly to Sony. I will keep you posted on whatworked for me. I started this process on 2009/July/18.

Go here and contact Canon. They will
provide you with the information you need to request a repare.
I did it and they fixed my camera.
Canon did a really good job with their product support. They even
fixed the broken off base strap where you place the wrist strap.
This is what they stated as the problem
with the blanks lcd screen. “...it was found that the pcb assembly
was inoperative there was no display on the LCD. The pcb assembly
DML and base strap was replaced.”

the wheel on the side lets you select the 4 modes.....1 - view picture, 2- take picture in normal mode, 3 - take pic's in manual mode, 4 - take pic's in scene selection mode. The problem is when i move the wheel to position 2, it stays in mode 1. Then when i move the wheel to mode 3 it moves to mode 2. The when i move the wheel to mode 4, it still stays in mode 2. My Canon TX1 was working great and all of a sudden when I tried to turn it on it displayed a message "Lens Error - Restart Camera". After this is displayed the camera powers down and each time you try to repower it, it repeats this message and the lens never opens. This camera is not very old nor has it been used much so this has me a bit frustrated. Please help...
