Question about Makita 10" Dual Slide Compound Miter Saw with Light LS1013F

Slide mechanism jammed

I have a Ryobi dompound slide mitre saw (don't know model no.) and both rails are a bit rusted, I went to use it the other day and the slide mechanism is jammed - doesn't seem to be because of the rust though, it sounds like something is knocking against something on the inside, it moves about 4-5mm and that's it (it's jammed half way along).
I've tried to take the backing plate off to have a look inside but can't get the screw undone - the screwdriver just strips the head of the screw (I stopped when the screw wouldn't turn, I didn't actually strip it!).
Also, the locking knob for the slide is intact, hasn't broken off in place, the end of the knob still has the machine finished end.
Any suggestions?

Try squirting WD 40 all over the rails and into the bearings...Your bearings could have rusted in place and won't turn. Or maybe one is rusted and the other turns a bit...You could use a good pair of vice grips to remove that stripped screw.if that will give you better access..
I haven't ever seen one jammed up like that though...
Otherwise, you might look up the parts diagram and see what you're getting into there, if there's anything that could have broken off inside that's hanging up..link here.
I hope this information allows you to resolve this issue. If you need further assistance, please post back with a comment to this thread.

Do you know where i can source a manual for a Ryobi 1800w 254mm Compound Sliding Mitre Saw model EMS 1825 SCL

normally they do
they cut at angles across the material
there is also a adjustment at the back of the slide that allows the head to be tilted
there is an angle gauge there and a pointer to give you the tilt angle
by adjusting that and the across the bed angle , you can cut compound angles
set the angle and then test cut as the angle may not always be exact ( setting it on 10 degrees on the scale may be 10 1/2
degrees in reality so testing gets it dead right)
adjust as necessary

The tube that is directly behind the saw blade if full of splinters or sawdust. Remove the debris AFTER unplugging the cord.

Ryobi mitre saw jamming when cutting

There's a normal adjustment process of squaring the blade to the table, page 19 of your manual. If the blade is not square to the table then it will bind. Here's the link for the manual, see page 19.

I bought a new mitre saw and have misplaced the opperating manual. I don't seem to be able to release the saw so it will slide back and forth on it's tubular arms.

Often there is a bolt with a knob or wing nut head which has to be unscrewed to allow the rails to slide.
If you give me the make and model it might be possible to find a manual.

Compound Mitre Saw Motor turning, spindle isnt.

I have went to 3 different sites and cannot find the model number listed on them, I did look at a Ryobi saw and they indicate it is an assembly. but before I did that I would try and removing the gear from the spindle. It is possible that when it spun it put a burr in the parts and you would have to use a little extra effort to remove them I would suggest going to a repair shop and having them press them apart and see what you canfind that way. Sorry I couldn't find more for you

How to change blades on an old Ryobi 380mm cut off mitre saw?

most of these saws have a push/lock tab on back side of motor housing that pins the shaft for blade change. if you cant find, use a 4/4 wood block to wedge old blade so you can loosen bolt.. hope this helps....chris

Why when i cut a bit of 6" skirting board it does'nt cut square on a brand new ryobi ems 2026 sliding mitre saw

Don't ever assume that the markings on the angle setting are correct and accurate. Always check squareness with a square before you use a miter saw. With almost all brands of power tools being built overseas nowadays there is unfortunately a question of accuracy on most brands. Always check.
