I replaced the battery pack and there is a ground wire that has no place to go. Where should I connect this?

Hi there, ...if the wire you are talking about is Green, with a fast-on connector on one end and a round grounding ring on the other, you would be looking for a small "tab" or spade connector marked GND on a control board near an edge of the board, and the round ring is usually screwed to the frame where there is exposed metal. Don't be too alarmed tho, many times I have seen these ground wires attached to a plastic housing, which of course does nothing. Grounding wires are meant to hold exposed metals at earth ground potential. ;o)

I need to find out what color the gas gauge wire is on a 98 ford f700 ?

Why do you need the colour? If the gas gauge isn't working, find the tank sender unit, sometimes its through a small panel in the floor. Pull off the sender unit wire and ground it with the ignition key in the run position. If the gauge maxes out, the sender is dead. If its a side mounted unit make sure you run the gas lower than the sender port!!
Remember to have a drain tray just in case and no guys standing around smoking! The release ring for the sender may require a special tool or something made up.

At the battery when you hook the terminals to it it starts smoking like its grounding itself out

Direct short recheck the wires at the starter to make sure you didn't pinch one and ground it out against the block

I have a Pentair 2 hp motor. I have 2 black wires and one white wire on the supply line. I can see where the white and one black wire go but where does the other black wire go? Other terminals on the...

I WOULD THINK THAT THE WHITE WIRE IS GROUND AND THE OTHER TWO ARE LINES (HOT) HOW TO CHECK THIS ? THERE IS A 99% CHANCE YOUR 2 HP MOTOR IS A 230 VOLT MOTOR.. SO TAKE A VOLT METER SET IT FOR SAY 50 VOLTS AC, AND ATTACH THE LEADS TO THE 2 BLACK WIRES, SHOULD SAY AROUND 220-240 VOLTS.. THESE GET HOOKED TO A-B.. WARNING IF THIS IS A TWO SPEED MOTOR, DO NOT ATTEMPT TO HOOK IT UP, IF YOU HOOK IT UP WRONG IT WILL SMOKE THE MOTOR ! OK YOU SAY HOW DO I TELL IF ITS A TWO SPEED ? LOOK AT THE LABEL IT WILL HAVE 2 RPM'S LISTED. IN THIS CASE CALL YOUR LOCAL POOL PUMP MOTOR REPAIR GUY.. HEY U , PRIME THAT PUMP AFTER ANY PUMP REPAIR !! NEVER EVER RUN A PUMP DRY... GOOD LUCK ,, NOW GO GET WET... Jay FLORIDA

An "earth fault" or ground fault is a condition where one of your circuits is grounded or shorted to earth. While all fire alarm systems are normally grounded for circuit board overload protection and personal safety issues, all circuits (bell circuit, smoke detector/heat detector/pull station circuits) should be free of earth grounds. I would suggest if you are not knowledgeable enough to troubleshoot your system you should contact a security/fire alarm installation company to fix the problem. If this is not a viable solution and you want to attempt this on your own try removing each circuit from the panel one at a time. While this will certainly cause additional system troubles, when you remove the circuit causing the earth fault the condition will disappear. You will then need to check all wiring, spice points and devices on that circuit to determine the faulted location.

New RCAS on Technics 1200 Getting a Loud Buzzing Noise

It is not suggested that you remove the ground cable. Performing the mod for the ground by soldering a bridge on the circuit board doesn't really do anything either than remove that buzz/ground hum. You've essentially removed the wire that grounds the turntable cabinet to the earth. The buzz is gone, but now your turntable is no longer grounded properly.

I would suggest replacing the ground cable to it's original state, then attach the Monster cables.

If this does not work, then either there is an issue with the soldering to the board, or the board itself might be damaged. You might want to look at the trace paths to make sure none are lifted, or damaged in any way on the board. Another issue might be faulty tonearm wires or not properly soldered wires.

FYI, monster cables are not good for this purpose. I would suggest the following cables:

Trying to hook up an inline gps unit and getting a sparking ground wire. Dumb question but do ground wires typically have a small spark?

They do initially if you have connected the power wire first. Internal capacitors on the circuit board power up the second you apply power. The spark you see is the discharge to ground completing the circuit. Usually no harm done unless it happens multiple times.
