Won't turn on

Recently purchased a SONY projection screen tv, brought it home, turned it on, worked beautifuly. My brother then hooked his x-box up to it, again worked fine. Went to turn it on the next morning, pressed power, and it makes the sound a tv makes when turned on for about three seconds, then turns back off?

First of all, the blink codes are NOT universal. Some are, but not all. If the set has been recently purchased, it should be under warranty. Return it or request warranty service. If it is out of warranty, please update this with the model and indicate whether or not hte standbyu light or any other light is blinking along with the count. Once we have that information, we should be able to help.

Please keep us posted on your progress.

Thanks,
Dan

All modern Sony television systems have a set of fault codes that causethe LCD by the start button to flash a set number of times to indicatea range of problems. You do not state a model number, but as Iunderstand it, the codes are universal.

You can find a full list of the codes at this web address.

RCA 46'' rear projection TV, dated 1998 won't turn on

Probably a new problem given the age of the TV. If you already haven't done so, try unplugging the power for about 10 minutes, plug back in and try again.

Sony 57 Inch XBR 2001

I don't have the XBR, but on my sony, using the cable box remote, I had to go into menu/display/etc. and mark the 1080i, 720p, and 480i settings. you usually get a "if you can see this" comment if your tv accepts the settings. for standard tv i set the screen to normal, and when the upper channels go to HD, they auto go to full screen. Sounds like you are using the component cable, and also make sure you are on the video port of remote, and the the TV input. The above worked for mine. Hope it helps.
