Wireless Bridging is used to connect two LAN segments via a wireless link. The two segments will be in the same subnet and look like two Ethernet switches connected by a cable to all computers on the subnet. Since the computers are on the same subnet, broadcasts will reach all machines, allowing DHCP clients in one segment to get their addresses from a DHCP server in a different segment. You could use a Wireless Bridge to transparently connect computer(s) in one room to computer(s) in a different room when you could not, or did not want to run an Ethernet cable between the rooms. Contrast this with Client Mode Wireless, where the local wireless device running DD-WRT connects to the remote router as a client, creating two separate subnets. Since the computers within the different subnets cannot see each other directly, this requires the enabling of NAT between the wireless and the wired ports, and setting up port forwarding for the computers behind the local wireless device. Segments connected via Client Mode Wireless cannot share a DHCP server. pictoral In the case in which we are interested, a wireless device running DD-WRT such as a WRT54G is configured as a Wireless Bridge between a remote wireless router (of any make/brand) and the Ethernet ports on the WRT54G.

Is it possible to connect PC wirelessly? If so, how? I can connect via wires but prefer wireless.

Hey william,
Ok. A portible computer can connect wirelessly as long as you have a router from a supporting cable provider. what this means is lets say you have cable from...xfinity. They will set you up with a router like any other company. This router pravides a wireless adaption to your computer that can last about 3 floors up and 3 miles away. Click the bars on your task bar and click "scan for available connections" and choose your connection. sadly you can only go wired but after that get a yellow support wire and plug in to the computer and hock it up to the TV and put the computer`s sleep mode off. this sleep mode will basicly turn off all programs and go to sleep cutting off the internet on your TV.
IF YOU WISH TO PUT YOUR TV WIRELESSLY THEN GO TO OPTIONS AND PRESS INTERNET AND CONNECT AND THERE YOU GO!

Can,t conect to the internet via wifi

When was the last time you could connect to the internet via wifi? You could do a System Restore back to that time.
And/or, connect to the internet via an ethernet cable and update the BIOS on your computer.
And, make sure you can find your current wireless driver on the internet; delete the wireless driver, from your computer (it might be corrupt), while in safe mode. Then restart and download the current wireless driver in normal mode.

I have a westell adsl2t router and it is connected to my DI-624m wireless router and I just want to encrypt the connection to secure it.

open a browser from a computer that is connected to the router (preferably wired) and in the address bar, enter http://192.168.0.1
the login is admin and the password is blank.
click WIRELESS on the left
you will then be on the wireless setup screen.
Enable the type of security you want, and the key or passphrase.
For instance, if you want something easy to remember, set the security to WEP and use your 10 digit phone number as the WEP key.
Change the SSID to something other than dlink while you're there.

That's all there is to it. Apply the changes and you're done!

Linksys Wireless-G Broadband and Router 2.4 GHz

First, you will need to select a Security Mode. Think of these modes as different languages, I can't tell you which one to choose, because depending on how new your computer(s) wireless card(s) are will determine how many languages they can "speak" with the wireless router. WPA2 is stronger than WPA, which is stronger than WEP. The easiest way to determine is to create a new wireless connection on your computer and see in the drop down list which modes your computer(s) cards can speak. You are looking for choices like WPA2, WPA, WEP (note which ones). Cancel out of there once you have determined the modes your computer(s) card(s) are capable of speaking.
In order to make the changes to your wireless router you will temporarily need to connect to it directly through an ethernet cable. Once you have run the cable from your computer to your wireless router...
In your web browser go to the URL http://192.168.1.1/. This will take you to a popup box which asks you to enter a username and password to login to your router.
On older LinkSys routers, the default username is blank and the default password is "admin". On newer Linksys routers, both the default username and the default password are set to "admin".
Once you are past the login screen, you are able to reconfigure the LinkSys router. You want to go to the Administration tab and change the Router password to something else (write this down) to keep others from accessing your router. Click "Save Settings".
Next goto Wireless Tab -> Basic Wireless Settings and change the Wireless Network Name (SSID) to whatever name you would like (ex.- "keepout"), be sure to write this down on note as your SSID, and set Wireless SSID Broadcast to "Disable", then click "Save Settings".
Now goto Wireless Tab -> Wireless Security, select the highest security mode you determined your computer(s) are capable of speaking earlier and create a key (write down) and click Save Settings.
Disconnect the ethernet cable from you computer and router. Now back in your computer(s) you will need to either edit existing wireless connection or create a new wireless connection and enter the SSID, Mode, and Key you created earlier.
A knowledgeable hacker could still penetrate your network, but the hassle usually is almost always more trouble than it is worth and they will move on to plentiful easier targets (like you were).
