Remove the plastic tab infront of the machine
start you dryer. look inside the hole to see if the igniter glows.
takes 20-30 secnds.
if it glows then move to the back side of the dryer
remove the screws an check the thermal fuse, for continuity is your tester has the beep sound wich is easier to use for newbies, try it no beep sound, no good.

but if it checks ok then you probaly have bad coils

also since you are looking onthe back make sure that the vent is not restricted, a restricted vent can cause blow back an shut the dryer off if the vent is not clearly open.

good luck!

Hi, If you are having problems with your gas dryer not heatingthe most common problem is that the ignitor goes bad. Even though it glowssometimes it is still not working properly. if you dryer is gas check out this gas no heat tip.... If you have an electric dryer, you can have many differentthings that can go wrong causing the dryer not to heat. check outthis electric no heat tip...

Kenmore 70 Series Dryer not heating and not cutting off

I had an identical problem to yours this weekend with my Kenmore dryer. There were 2 problems.

1. Timer was broken. Does not advance to "OFF" position on timed dry, however it still works for auto-dry.

2. Thermal fuse was blown. Upon replacing, dryer heated up normally.

I believe when the timer broke, the dryer had kept running and blew the thermal fuse. On Sears' website, thermal fuse is $5.30, timer is roughly $80.

Kenmore series 80 gas dryer will not heat up

Hi. this dryer has a set of coils that sit on top of the actual gas valve assembly. these coils activate the main and secondary gas valves and if the coil assembly is malfunctioning or, the wires and clips are corroded, the coils will not activate the gas valves to open and close. this malfunction will affect the heating process within this dryer unit.

I recommend inspecting the dryer coil assembly. use a mulitimeter to test for Resistance. you should get a reading of some type of current flow through the wires and, if this is the case, the coils are bad and they will need to be replaced.

This test is actually not needed. the non existing heat is a red flag on its own and, it greatly confirms a major failure within the coil assembly. replacing the coils will fix your dryer.

PLease rate and god bless:)
