These vacs can stop up in almost inaccessible places. That sound means that it has stopped up somewhere and the electric motor is in a strain. Keep it running like that long enough and the motor is toast. I have one that seems to prefer the hose area where it goes by the motor and into the bag. The tube from the motor to the bag also is prone to stop up. To take these apart requires that you start at the beater bar area and work you way inward. In certain areas if you look closely, you'll see little arrows pointing to the screws. These are the ones that will allow you to get closer to the innards of these. When you get to where the motor is, look for blockages from the attachment hose. It takes only small items to completely block it off which will effect performance from both the beater bar/normal intake and also from use of the hose itself. The b***ards can be a pain to keep functional. I've personally removed rather sizeable wads of dog hair from mine that mucked up the works rather than went into the bag. Belts for the beater bar are notoriously short lived in these as well. When they break, the vacuum is only good as a floor sweeper. Stock up on both belts and bags for these. Good luck!

I recently had a whole new problem develop with this PowerMAX that I initially thought was terminal. The motor ran but no suction at all. I took it apart thinking that it might be another blockage but after finding none, I took the motor housing apart. There I discovered that the fan besides having several broken vanes, it had stripped it's threads from the motor and was just sitting there while the motor spun. Fortunately, a local vacuum shop had a replacement of the newer Lexan material and only cost $12. It was easy to fix and was certainly much cheaper than replacing the entire cleaner.

Samsung vcu366 making loud noise but picks up

what does the really loud noise sound like? Is it a loud, whining sound? if so, the motor may be getting ready to go out. Also check that the belt isn't stuck-though you would smell burning rubber if that were the case.

Very loud "jet like" noise,please

Vacuums are noisy, but shouldn't sound like a jet.....

Trying to find out what is wrong depends on what kind of noise it makes, i.e. high squeal, vibration, whining and where it comes from.

Here is a webpage with troubleshooting advice on noise in vacuum cleaners. Hopefully you should be able to track down the problem.

If you need further help with repairs, please reply back. Thanks,

Hoover started to make loud noise

It sounds like a bad motor. Take it to a local vac shop and they should be able to order the motor for you.

The belt inside my Hoover broke and so we replaced it. But when we did, it now makes an extremely loud noise when turned on. We think it’s the roller to the vacuum because it doesn't make a noise when the roller is not in there. The roller sounds like its hitting something. However, we have pushed and pulled and done everything and all seems to be right. Everything is clicked in and the belt is on correctly and we've followed the manual. How can I fix this problem?
I would advise you to ALWAYS to FIRST UNPLUG YOUR VACUUM before beginning any service procedure. It sounds to me that it is a bad brushroll and could need new bearings or a complete new brushroll depending on if id is metal word or plastic. Some brushrolls are rebuildable and some are not, you can check your owner’s manual to see if it is or is not; or it could be the start of a broken fan blade or bearing in the motor section. But that is the only thing that I can think of that might be wrong. Feel free to contact your local vacuum cleaner dealer in your area or you can also contact the Hoover website or cust serv phone # listed below. So if you need further assistance, please feel free to contact your local vacuum cleaner dealer in your area or in the yellow pages, or contact the factory phone number or website to further assist you with your questions. Loud noise when running.

Bad bearing or fan in the motor is most likely the problem. You would have to replace the motor.
