Go to Menu/ Home and initialize camera to reset it for factory default settings to fix flash light settings bug. If problem still not solved, let me know do you see any error code flashing in top right corner of lcd?
The E:91:01 error code indicates an issue with the malfunction when flash is being charged. It may be required to change or check the flash unit with the Sony Authorized service technicians. Try the following troubleshooting steps and check if the issue can be resolved:
Power resetting: Remove the batteries from the Camera. Press and hold the POWER BUTTON of the Camera for 15 seconds. Then, reinsert the batteries after 1 minute.
Factory resetting:(This can be performed only if the Menu is accessible) To reset the Camera, select the INITIALIZE Option from the SET UP1 Menu of the Camera to OK. Home-->Settings-->Main Settings 1-->Initialize-->OK
If the issue is not resolved after trying the above troubleshooting steps, service may be required.
Hi, Follow the procedures given below to have a perfect fix for your problem.
Press Menu button.
Toggle across from REC Mode to setup
Toggle down thrice from camera to setup 1
Toggle across into sub menu
Toggle down from four times to Initialize
Toggle across again to the sub-menu
Toggle up from cancel to OK
Press center button to accept the OK choice
Screen changes and so press okay again
It should restart the camera
Opening on the 'Clock Set' screen
Toggle down to cancel and use the camera and make sure that you have the camera to flash, if it works try again in the Auto function. If it is still not working dont worry follow the steps again two or three more times, As this is related to a software error message and not a hardware malfunction. If it is working then don't forget to set your Clock. Thank you !!

Have you tried to reset the camera to the factory defaults? To do this: have the camera in shooting mode - go to Menu - left arrow to reset - press ok - Highlight Yes and press ok. This will reset the camera to factory settings. See if flash works now.

hi worked for me , remove battery take apart, discarge the capistor i think 320 volt DO NOT SHORT THE CAP !!!when dead voltage on cap ,turn on reset all camera and try good luck
If the camera works in all other respects, then that has something to do with the flash setting or some other setting in the menus. But this sounds like something with the flash directly.
Here is a link which may be able to help on the DSC H7: http://www.aakatz.com/whitepaper/whitepaper/appendix2.htm
Try also to reset all the menu setting back to what it was for the factory. Most digital cameras have a setting for that, and usually is something like "RESET ALL" or something close to that.
If nothing works, then the camera needs repair. This is an error to do with the flash only, it appears. So some of the internal parts could be weak, thus causing the error.
Guys - I just recevied a new H9 today. Was using it and decided to turn
the flash off. Later on I wanted to turn it back on and I got the
famous "flash settings cannot be changed" error message. I found the
problem. I had turned on the "continuous shooting" option as I wanted
to see how fast it would take photos continuously. When that option is
on, you cannot use the flash so therefore you cannot change the flash
settings. I put the camera back in "single-shot" mode and now the flash
works fine. I hope this fixes your issue.
