My son has a Canon A720-IS camera, maybe 2 years old and suddenly it will not turn on. Stone, cold dead. We have changed batteries for good ones (always NiMh rechargeables) and have checked there is 3V from the Lithium coin cell. He has taken easily a thousand pictures and is pleased with the camera. Does anyone know if it's repairable please? I hate to throw something like this away.
Thanks in advance fo yout input.

- Thanks t00nz for those tips, but they're not the solution for this one :-( The lens is retracted and the lens cover is closed. The battery contacts are OK, the door switch is present and there is not a rattle of broken-off parts. Tried powering on without the memory card.
Here are some simple things to try first for a camera that won't power on. They won't work for every case, but they're worth a try. You can skip the battery comments and focus on the other suggestions in the article:
- If you've tried all the above, and there's absolutely no reaction at all from the camera (no blinking lights, nothing), then it's likely a blown fuse. Unfortunately these are very tiny, internal to the camera, and are soldered to the circuit board. They're primarily a safety feature to prevent overheat and fire, and are not really meant to be replaced. Also there's likely another problem that caused the fuse to blow, so if you did replace the fuse, it can happen again (usually gummed up gears in the lens assembly). Sorry that I don't have any better suggestions for you.

The camera doesn't always take pictures when I press the button. This problem is about a week old. If I keep closing and opening the shutter, it sometimes will take the picture.
