My friend, if the gear is worn out, your machine is worn out. By the time you get and in stall this part, you can purchase a new machine.

There is a possibility that Royal will sell you the part ... you could check with them. I have never had luck repairing any but LARGE COMMERCIAL shredders. Home and small office shredders are not worth the effort to repair.

I have the SC800 apart. My problem is not fixing it. I just need the part. The large gear which appears to be made of pewter has a couple of teeth missing. If I could find the part I can fix it. It's a very simple machine. If you know where I can get the part I would appreciate you letting me know..

I suggest using Belzona (metal compound). Mix it with its hardner, paste it over the broken gear (dont worry if it gets over a couple of other gears. Let Belzona sink and dry (4-5hours). Get a Dremel drill with a fine blade on it and cut accurately where the teeth are meant to be. Voila, you have fixed your gear.
