What could be the problem when one of my handsets says it is Out of range or no power at base. Does it need a battery? Please help me.

You need to de-register the broken handset then add (register) the new handset:

from the troubleshooting section of the manual
• Unplug the base unit’s electrical power and remove the battery from the handset. Wait for 15 seconds then plug in the battery place the handset in the base unit and plug in the power. Allow up to one minute for the cordless handset and base to synchronize
not a guarantee, something to try

were you ever able to register the additional handset? I have the same problem with 4 handsets, one broke and I bought 2 new vt2420 handsets. The unit wont register handset #3 (the one that broke). Would love to know if you were able to resolve the issue?

I can vouch for the second solution. It worked perfectly on my 2461 with two extensions. Even the vTech website was not able to provide a solution.
SOURCE: i have a cs6328-3 model
Periodically, while using my Vtech Model CS6328-3 phone, it becomes virtually impossible to hear the other party - interestingly, it affects other non-cordless phones in the home at the same time. Just like that, the volume may come back. The person on the other end sometimes has the same proble hearing me - but not always. Have switched back to a previous Panasonic phone system in the interim, no problems. Seems to be the Vtech system. Any thoughts?
