Pneumatic stapler leaks at the top

This is a cheap Chinese made stapler; however, it worked very well until suddenly it started leaking air at the top 'vent' when trigger is pulled. fyi--I bought this one in 2006 to replace my ancient Senco L gun when I couldn't get parts for it. It had the same problem.
I opened it up from the top and don't see any obvious problems with the many O rings.

Your problem is you have blown a seal. On some of the cheap chinese guns, it might be a flat gasket instead of an o ring.

Back down the air pressure. 30-40 psi should be sufficient.

What should I do if my brand new Fasco pneumatic upholstery stapler is leaking air through the tail end...not the hose, but the two holes in the handle? Any suggestions?

Hi Anonymus,

What's happened if the driver blade has stopped in mid stroke, the air will escape. Quickest was 'round this is to take the airline off the tool, then find some scrap wood, place the tool on it as though you're firing it, and in THIS ORDER... pull the trigger and re-connect the airline at the same time. This usually sorts this out. Regardless of the tool make and model this will happen to most users sometime....

Stapler leaks ouy of top

Try oiling it first. If it still leaks I would check the seal (reference #11) on this parts diagram.

PNEUMATIC STAPLEGUN TROUBLE

First, undue the four cap screws that hold the manifold on, re: top of the gun, then remove the "driver blade", with needle nose pliers. There will be a little "***", grab it with the pliers and pull straight out.

Once the driver blade is out, remove the o'ring at the top. Wrap some teflon tap around the crack where the driver blade o'ring sits about two spins with the teflon tape, then re-insall the o'ring.

put back together.

Oil goes in the "air inlet fitting at the back of the gun where the air hose hooks up, just couple drops of pheumatic air tool oil, re: 30 weight non-detergent oil, like sewing mahine oil ect. its available everywhere.

Make sure you install the driver blade the way it came out, so "watch" as you remove it. If the driver blade is busted, or cracked you'll have to replace it, can get them at any tool store or on line. about 20-40 bucks.

should work fine.

MY PNEUMATIC STAPLE GUN WON'T WORK/ looses air through firing lever. How do I repair it? Where do I put the oil in?

I would agree with rowdy that the make and model number are essential to getting the right parts - If you have that information, just find a dealer that supports your brand. That being said, air leaking out the trigger area is likely to be an O-Ring or Seal problem. Pneumatic staplers have O-rings and Seals that need to be replaced periodically. Most have rebuild kits available that contain all the O-Rings and Seals that need to be replaced. Many staplers have O-rings and/or Seals on or near the trigger shaft that can wear and allow air to leak out

Air stapler leaks air through ''nose''

This sounds like one of the O-rings has failed. Yes it can be fixed. Check to see if HD has an O-ring kit for these guns. That kit will contain all of the O-rings as well as the lubricants for a total rebuild. That should resolve your problem.
