Question about Black & Decker Garden

Black & Decker gh1000 trimmer head not spinning

The motor is running, but the head won't spin.  This seemed to happen gradually; the head just slowed down & eventually stopped completely.  The motor is running normally as far as I can tell.

The same thing happened to me. You either have a ruined belt pulley, or, hopefully, the belt burned out. Belts are easy to find online, but the housing is tricky to remove - see other posts.

I finally got it the plastic housing apart on my trimmer (there is one screw hidden under the label), only to find a total meltdown. The plastic pulley is ruined, and the only way to get it replaced is to buy a new motor (the most expensive part).

If your trimmer is no longer under warranty, then you can get a refurbished gh1000 for the price a new motor unit.

I need to know how to re-string my black & decker weed eater

Here is the instruction manual direct from Black & Decker for the GH1000 XP model. You may or may not have the twin string head, but all instruction manuals are available from their site. As close as I can figure, this pertains to your model.

You will need Adobe Reader installed on your computer to view this as it is a PDF. If you don't, go to Adobe's website. The download for it is safe and free..and easy to delete afterwards if unwanted.

GH1000 Motor runs but spool just quit working.this is electric.

Same thing happened to me. The belt broke. You'll need to take off all the screws to change the belt. There's a hidden screw under the black label. Feel around for the soft spot.

Motor spins, shaft does not...

I'm in a similar situation with my GH1000, except that it was a part that comes with whole motor assembly. I could sell you the shaft assembly of my trimmer, or I'll buy your motor assembly. Yes?
