Question about Sony KDF-E42A10 42 in. LCD Television

No Sound, Black Screen, 42" KDF-e42A10

All of a sudden the TV shows a black screen with no sound. Power light stays a steady green and we can still view the wega-gate menu and channel indicators, just cannot pick up anything from any external source (satellite, xbox, etc)

If your tv is flashing 7 times. Disconect audio module. It is on top of power supply. Turn tv on you will have picture. Conect the audio outout from the rear. To the aux. input of a stereo. Where you night control audio level. Or get a new audio board. Its is very expensive get only the audio amp I. C. The audio. part. No. 1-866-539-11

possibly the power condition or filtering circuit of the inverter board has gone leaked or out of tolerance. inspect some bulgy capacitor and replace it.

Sony Bravia - no picture, no sound. Just a blank screen. We were watching a show and the screen went blank and no sound.


First thing to try: unplug from the wall; count to ten; plug back in; try again

Second thing to try: unplug from the wall; count to 10,000 (or wait 10 minutes or so); plug back in; try again

#1 worked for me when it would power on with no video, no sound, just small green light + white logo

My parents have a Sony KDF-E42A10 42" LCD TV. They have audio, but no video. Screen is black. Do you think they need a bulb replacement?


Yes, if lamp has not been replaced in last 2-3 years then it is lamp problem. If tv does not shut down and its standby light does not blink in red then lamp is cause of problem, replace it to fix tv issue.

Grand Wega turns off and comes back on
