Remove the drum.
Inspect the drum seal, rear rollers, tension roller, front drum glides.
It could be any one of these bad or a combination of theses.

Wahser makes loud noise trying to stop spin cycle It seemed to spin ok and agitate but made terrible noise when trying to stop

Take the belt off and run the motor alone if you hear a high pitched squealing noise to check for motor bearing damage or wear. If you still hear the noise without the belt, it's the motor bearing. but more than likely its the brakes, or the belt itself ,, a solinoid signals the machine to stop which in turn applies brakes just like a car only smaller, when these wear they tend to do the same as a car and squeal , its just an indication your machine is up for some maintenance,

I have a coleman heat pump and the indoor unit sometimes makes a squealing noise on start up. It does not make the noise when using regular heat. (no compressor) any ideas?

Hi,
What you are hearing is the refrigerant going through the expansion valve...sometimes they will squeal as the pressure builds...depending on the valve the refrigerant has to push open a check valve and that will cause a noise...
The noise does not mean that you have a problem, and it will not hurt anything... nothing is broken, it just can be annoying...

Maytag electric dryer is making a high pitched noise

The squealing noise is from the belt tensioner. Replace the pulley only on the tensioner along with a new belt. The bearing in the pulley is causing the squeal. Sears will sell this in a kit. The top and the front panel of the dryer will have to be removed to replace these parts

I don't think they can be, but, also take a look at the fan bearing assembly too. You should be able to isolate if the noise is from the motor bearings or blower bearings.

Loud squealing noise

The noise is most likely the serpentine belt. Check it's condition and that of the belt tensioner. It sounds like the belt is slipping, causing the squealing noise u describe. As the belt warms up, it's getting a better 'grip' and the noise stops. Turning on the heat also turns on the a/c in newer cars, this added drag on the belt (one more component to turn, the a/c compressor) would explain why it happens when u turn on the heat. Is the belt original? If yes, it's time to change it, and check the belt tensioner to make sure it's doing it's job of keeping the belt snug on all the pulleys. Let me know how u make out.

Squeeky noise

I own a Frigidaire Heavy Duty Dryer The Model # is FDE436RES1. It is 10 years old. When running the dryer it makes a very loud squealing noise although the heat and the dryer still work. Is this a belt or roller problem or does it sound like something else. It is very high pitched and can be heard throughout the entire home. I do not know much about dryer troubleshooting so your help would be greatly appreciated. Thank You.
