I have a weird problem with my new MobilePro 900C. When I first
received it, I was able to insert a CF memory card and the system would
recognise it and make it available in explorer. I could read and write
files to it.
Due to some other problems, I was forced to do a hard reset on the
device. Now, since then, when I insert a CF card I cannot see it in the
filesystem. I know the system is detecting insertion because it asks me
if I want to use the card on battery power.
I am able to use other cards in the system without problem. E.g. a
PCMCIA Orinoco wireless card works just fine.
Does anyone have a suggestion as to what is wrong? Is this a driver
issue? What can I do to resolve it?
Many thanks,
Julian

and do a hard reset. If then the CF card is still not recognized, then I
would assume that you have a hardware problem. Did you buy your MobilePro
new or SH? Is it still on warranty?

A hard reset and restore from backup fixed it!
Thanks a lot for the help.

Thanks for the good suggestions.
The CF card is fine: it has files and works on other readers. I've also
tried other CF cards.
The CF card is not recognised either in the CF slot or in a PCMCIA
sled: I tried both. Yet, as I say, the system asks about powering the
card, in both cases, when inserted in battery mode.
So I am pretty much certain this is not a problem with the CF card
itself.
It's as if there is a driver missing or malfunctioning.

that slot can read it either, that could point to a problem with the card.
Do you have a CF reader on your desktop - if so, you could try a repair
utility. It could be that when you had these other problems, that the card
got corrupted - I've had that happen to me one on a Jornada 720. You also
have some HPC utilties, like Storage Tools (www.softwinter.com) that can
scan and repair a dammaged card right on your MobilePro.
