I have already done these things. They are the fixes that are free on the apple site. After googling this problem, I see many people have the same problem. I have not seen a solution. If anyone has another suggestion that would be good.

Ok so I am back to square one. I will have to go to Apple with this problem.

Yes you will have to go to apple.as you are not the only 1 facing this problemthere are many like you facing this problem.but out of that mostly all get it solved by sending the device to the apple service center.as many of my clients are faxcing this problem.so after contacting apple and getting the info as why does this blank screen comes and every thing else works properly except scren.they stated that as follows
--------- in the device there is screen circuit connection that gets dead due to some reasons----- and so the screen becomes blank.but the screen circuit gets repaired easily.---- if the device is under warranty they replace whole screen circuit with new.if not under warranty they charge it bit service charge as per the terms and conditions of the company.but one thing is sure that .no normal electronics parts local repair center will be able to do this except the able service center.as this not a easy job.

this will help you.
thanks.please accept the solution by rating it.
thanks.

Hi

Okay so your screen is white, and everything else works perfectly.

the issue is either loose flex cable between the display and the board or a faulty display.

the display is cheap to replace, hopefully the issue is just with the display.

First of all, is the ipod on warranty? have you checked with apple will they repair it or do you want to repair it yourself?

if your outside of warranty you can buy the screen or get it repaired by the guys of this company
http://store.ifixipodsfast.com/

If you are on warranty or if your not sure open this page
http://www.fixya.com/support/r561901-ipod_problems_start_5_solutions
scroll down to my last comment where it says Online service assistant.

on that page you can check the warranty or get repairs from apple. but I suspect the ifixipodsfast.com will fix it for cheaper or just order the part.

let me know if you have any questions.
Thanks,
Ekse

if the issue is not solved by replacing the screen or reconnecting the flex cable, then the issue is on the board, you might have to replace the board, in that case i would suggest to send it to apple or ifixipodsfast.com testing / repair service.

Now I don't understand that comment? You have the correct solution infront of you, YOU can replace the screen yourself, I've posted a link to the website where YOU can purchase the screen and repair this yourself OR optionally you can contact apple or send it to ifixipodsfast repair service.

What do you mean your back square one you got everything you need infront of you here.

this is exactly how I would fix my ipod if I had one. what did you expect what do you need or want?

if your replying to me, please include, "reply to ekse:"

  1. Toggle the Hold switch on and off. (Slide it to Hold, then turn it off again.)
  2. Press and hold the Menu and Center (Select) buttons simultaneously until the Apple logo appears, about 6 to 8 seconds. You may need to repeat this step.
--------------------------- if Your iPod doesn't respond, won't turn on, or the display remains blankIf your iPod doesn't respond, is "frozen", won't turn on, or nothing appears on the LCD screen check for these possible causes:
The Hold switch may be on. Check the Hold switch to make sure it's not in the locked position. Unlock it, and try using iPod again.
  • Tip: Even if the Hold switch is already in the unlocked position, it's sometimes helpful to toggle it so it's locked and unlocked again.
  • You may need to reset your iPod. Resetting your iPod does not affect your music or data files.

  • Your iPod's battery may not be charged. Plug your iPod in, wait for a moment, press a button to turn it on, and check the screen. Here are some easy steps to get the most out of your battery. Note: On recent iPod models, when the battery is completely empty, your computer may not recognize your iPod for up to 30 minutes even though it's connected and charging.

Hi Try this: disconnect the player from the computer, turn it off, hold in the volume + button, and reconnect the player to the computer while holding the volume + button in. Keep holding the volume + button for an additional 5-50 seconds. Windows should eventually go into recovery mode and revive the player- it will pop up a window that says Found New Hardware Wizard.
hope this will solve yuor problem. all the best regards
