    Q5A31 solder connection was loose. Re-solder connection. How can I check to see if either one is o.k.

  • Mike May 25, 2009

    I believe that the Q5A31 transistor is open. Do you happen to know the part number is. The only numbers I can get off of it is panasonic C5418. Can't find on any web sites.

Did you check the two 5 amp picos that normally blow when the Ics fail? They are F9ao4 and F9a05

    do you get an error code when you press the menu and device/input button both in together and hold for 5 seconds on the front panel/ The led should blink a series of blinks pause slightly then blink the second series of blinks for a two digit error code.

    Thats Horizontal deflection Check The two following transistors Q5A31 and Q5A01

    you will have to remove them from circuit then check the pins for continuity then reverse the leads to check the same two pins again you should get continuity in one direction then none or very little when the leads are swithed on any two given pins.

Good Day;

You have poor connections on your "convergence IC's. Middle board IC's on large silver heat sink. Redo solder before total failure. Good Luck, big IRISH.
