Not meant to be nasty, but is the manual still in the box?
I have the manual online, but without camera to have feedback it is difficult.
Just press the on /off button and turn the dial to Ai. Then you can shoot along.
If the camera needs some extra setup, before it can start it will tell you on the screen.

Testimonial: "thanks for trying! but nothing doing. have now spoken to panasonic who have talked me through all likely scenarios, but it has been officially called faulty and is going back!! ggrrrr."

I have a Compaq 610n and when i went to turn it on today i have a blank screen, i hooked it up to tv and can use it from there , even though its not fitting on the screen right even with changing...

I suggest that the notebook screen is switched off. Check along the Function keys for a Screen Symbol and then press Fn and the F key with the symbol. (It is F5 in my case).

you need to take the phone and have it fully service....do not power on wet phone it could short the main-board out

DXG-506V LCD comes on Blank White Screen

I had the same problem ...I bought a new 2 GB SD card put it in the camera and it worked fine.

It may have had something to do with formatting ..I tried to format the other card wiyh my computer when the video camera would stay on.
I tried to reset the camera that didn't work either.
The new SD Card did work.

Sounds like it needs service. You can try resetting the camera to its factory default settings and see if that does anything. On the Setup Menu (wrench and hammer symbol), go to Clear settings, then Clear all camera settings, and select OK. This is covered on page 37 of the manual.
