My 2 way remote control send out the signal to the central controller (located into my car) but the central controller does not send a response back, instead of that the screen of my remote control shows an "out of range" message which isn't right. Also I have the 1 way remote control (they both came together when I bought the alarm and remote starter system from a Toyota dealer. My car is a Toyota FJ Cruiser 2007 and I had the alarm/remote starter system working without any issues for more than 1 year. I am from Minnesota and I thought that the problem might be due to the cold temperatures, but last night once I got into my car (obviously the alarm went off because I wasn't able to unlock my car using the controller) started it...after 30 minutes running the temperature inside the car was around 70F but still had the same issue.
Today I unhooked the battery for about 15-20 minutes and reconnected. The 2-way remote now works perfectly!
(Better to connect TWO unhooked wires together for 5 minutes)
This is formally known as "Main Reset" :)
Replace your Batteries on your remote control sounds like the batteries are not giving enough power ,so the radio in the remote to trigger the alarm to disable the alarm is not strong enough. Its like the power of the batteries show light but its not strong enough.

Yes it is true that dealerships will always blame aftermarket installments and installers hands down. That being because they can try to void your warrenty that way. Now is it possible the system triggered your BCM? yes it has happened in the past but if they were an Authorized dealer they would have the information telling them how to avoid that problem. Now I would say this if the dealer cost you $598 for a new BCM first make sure you got the old BCM from the dealership. Then I would take the old one to the Authorized dealer and have them shell out the $598 because they were the ones that had the BCM fail not you and also that is what they pay for insurence. There insurence will cover their mistake. hope that helped.

Maybe this will help. ALL toyota's have a "child safety feature" on the door lock systm. You would never know it unless you lock the doors BEFORE you clse the driver door. At tht point, you woldn'y be able to unlock the doors using the factory wring as ther is ONE more wire hat needs to be pulsed upon unlock. Not to confuse you (I know, I already did). MAKE SURE that you close ALL the doors BEFORE you lock them and telkl me if it works then Than I can give you more support....cool?

The Viper alarms will accept (if I remember correctly), 4 codes at one time. That is, 4 individual remotes, or two remotes two times, or one remote 4 times. So, if you program your remote 4 times, it will essentially remove any previously programmed remotes. Another option, and you'll have to check with your dealer, but I think there is a way to delete ALL remotes, and then program your remaining remote one time, and again, all previously programmed remotes are now removed from memory. This was done by the manufacturer just for such events.

sounds like the remots have lost two way communication. try to disconnect the windsheild antenna.try remotes again after pluging antenna back in.
