Freon is one probable cause, but there may be other causes, primarily with how clean your central A/C is. Check to make sure it is in decent condition, free of obstructions, as found in this article:

Also, if it is Freon, you can't just buy this on your own, unfortunately. It is highly regulated--sort of compared to the regulation of prescribed medication. A licensed technician must be hired to recharge an AC with Freon, as stores do not (or should not) sell this to those without AC certification. Good luck! Brad

I have 1994 Chevy Lumina 4dr 3.1 Multi Point, Front W/D, F1, 6cyl. My air conditioner was blowing warm air @ 2mos ago & my husband added freon & a/c began blowing cooler air but, not as cold as...

You have a Freon leak because all the fittings, seals, coils rubber, compressor seals and entire AC system will need to be checked out by someone that can find the problem and resolve them or you will never get this fixed. A/C in cars get hot in the summer and cold in winter and all the seals dry out. The system needs to have all the air and moisture pulled out before any Freon in charged into repaires A/C unit or the system will not cool properly. That is the only way to resolve this Tammy, Thanks Sea Breeze

On my 2004 gmc sierra 1500 the compressor cycles on and off. i tried to add more freon but it would not take the freon so i changed the low pressure switch but still doing the same thing. could the orfice...

When the compressor kicks on, is the air from the vents blowing cold? If the air isn't blowing cold, then your problem could be that you may have water in the system. I had a '93 Chevy Z71 that wouldn't blow cold and thats what my problem was. System needs to be evacuated and refilled. Good luck bro.

My 2000 buick lesbre doesn't blow cold air like it

Hi bennysosiris...
If your compressor is starting and stopping regularly and it is not blowing cool as it one did then I would say:
Yes you need to add some freon to your system...depending what kind of freon it takes if would be better to take it in to have a professional install your freon to the proper pressure and volume.

A/c blows hot air how do i recharge it

You can go to a auto parts store or even walmart and get the freon R134a with the connector for your car, ask which one you need if your not sure. You will probably need 2 cans of freon. With you hood open and the engine off locate the fitting for freon, it will be on an aluminum line there will be 2 and you want the bigger one. Remove the blue cap and connect the hose, Then have your helper start the car BEING CAREFUL TO KEEP HANDS AND OTHER IMPORTANT THINGS AWAY FROM FAN AND OTHER MOVING PARTS. Open the valve on the first can while helper keeps the engine at a very fast idle about 2500-300 RPM with A/C on high and shake the can with it upside down. If after the 1st can is empty and the air isn't cold add the 2nd can. This should make you AC cold again

Describe your 2005 explorer ac wont blow cold air Problem

the problem is probably low freon there should be a place on one of the hoses to check the freon level. you can usually get a gage when you buy the freon. if the freon isn't the problem than the problem is probably with the compressor. I would check the freon first.

My ac does not blow cold in my 97 cadillac deville but it does blow just not cold and its n ot the fuse what can i do?

You probably have leaked out your freon after so much time. Try adding some more Freon if it doesnt stay charged you may have bigger issues.

A/C blows hot on 1999 Chevy Cavalier

That could be the case. The other problem could be that you are losing freon for some reason. Find someone who can check the freon level for you to make sure that it is not leaking. The valve to fill the freon can get bent which allows for the gas to escape and then you run into this problem.
