Question about Televison & Video

1 Answer

Have used several times burning CD-R and CD-RW disks with no problem. Now as soon as you put a disk in the tray -either blank or with data on it - it will become disconnected from the computer and completely inoperable. The tray cannot be opened. The only way to get it back into operation is to remove the power plug for a few seconds and then restore power. I am unable to do any burning the way it is.

Hi

Thanks for using FixYa. Have you tried putting a lens cleaning disc inside? If not then you can do this as the lens might require cleaning. If this does not work then replacing the lens would be a good option. To clean the lens you can also open the top case of your player and then check whether the connections to the lens are fine.

Please do accept this solution and revert for further assistance.

Thanks
Rylee

How do I format a CD-R in windows xp

Unless your using a program you don't really format a CD-R, sometimes you erase a CD-RW but if your looking to put data on a disk you insert your blank disk and then you can go to then disk and put files to be copied on the disk, Then you run the windows write to disk wizard. it is located under FIle and says " Write these files to CD " You can also burn music with windows media player by selecting the copy to CD or Media device or by selecting the Burn tab on the top of the media player on newer versions of windows media player.

How to format my cd

You don't format CD'S, and if and only if you have a cd-rw, you just erase
(delete) the data that is on it off.

If you do format it, it probably won't work anymore.

CD- you can only write to it one time, and that's it.

CD -RW you can erase and re write.

You format a hard drive when you install a operating system, or you format a flash drive from FAT to NTFS

If you burn it with windows, you might see windows say formatting,
but you don't do it.

I had to download all kinds of drivers to get my computer to do basics like viewing movies hearing music and finally burn music now i learned i can only save data(lots of songs at one time) or make a cd on...

cd-r80 are for music. Your best option is to buy a program like nero. I assume you are just dragging and dropping files to burn them right now. dvd's are more meant for backing up data or making movies because they hold a lot more data then a cd. Are you able to burn disc's at all? Just like all things involved with computers it can get complicated real quick.I hope this helps a little and if you have more questions let me know
Thanks,

It can't read or burn any data on any empty disks (CD-Rom/DVD)! but it can read any other written disks like: programs , Movies , audio disks , data disks just when I put a blank or Empty disk it seems...

Some CD burners are either "+" or "-" or both "+ -".

That said you will have to check what type of burner you have. Example, you cannot stick a "+" blank cd into a "-" burner, and visa versa.

However, if your cd burner can read and burn both types, you should be okay.

CD/DVD will not burn DVD

Did you tell CDBurnerXP that you want to burn a CD? or to burn a DVD?

Does this happen with _EVERY_ "blank" disk that you insert, or just one disk?

Can your DVD-RW _read_ a previously-recorded CD? DVD?
If not, then that hardware is suspect.

Why my [sony cd rw dvd rom] will not detect a blank dvd disk

If you have the sony CD RW DVD ROM then you can't burn the data in a blank DVD.

Because your Configuration is :
Read : CD / DVD
Write : CD

This means you have a combo drive. But to burn a DVD you should have DVD RW.

Samsung DVD Rom drive SD 612B

Its a dvd-rom drive. READ ONLY MEMORY.

That drive will not burn a dvd...it has to say dvd-r/dvd-rw.
or be referred to as a super drive.

Hope this helps.
