Question about RCA DCM315R Modem

My RCA DCM315R keeps restarting

My cable modem keeps rebooting. However, I notice that it doesn't do it when the computer is off. So I tried this: I tried running Explorer without add-ons. And so far so good. No reboot. So what do I do now? Do I uninstall Explorer? Is this a virus? HALP!

The second part of this problem is this: the power supply for this modem has been severed. I tried splicing the wires back together but I think I may have done it wrong. I am using a slightly different power cord from a motorola DSL modem - does one power supply differ from another - as long as the thing is getting power?

All fixed. It was the power supply. Duh.

Try downloading firefox from www.firefox.com and install that. See if you get the same issues. That will help isolate the issue.

Cable modem

Go and buy a router. Plug your existing modem into the WAN port and your computers into the LAN port. You could even get a wireless router and connect your upstairs computer wireless. Be sure to lock down your SSID (Wireless Access Point Broadcast Name) so your neighbors or people driving by don't get on and do bad things on your network.

Bridge RCA Thomson DCM315R

Hi,

Usually cable providers provide public ip directly to your company ( already bridged ). so no need to configure your modem to bridge.
- Connect the computer directly to the modem and if possible, let me know the ip address of your PC, So we can find the modem already bridged.
- If its already bridged, then Open the ports on your Router ( port number : 3389 for TCP ) or else you may try DMZ Host on your router to check whether it works.

Note:
DMZ ( Demilitarize Zone ) host which opens all ports on your network and shows ur computer to the outside Network which is not really secured one. but you can try it for testing purpose whether it let you to use remote desktop.

Hope this will help you
