Well if you are sure you have not tampered with the HD during the partition section then there is a way out.

The yellow sign you saw on the device manager indicates that the driver is not compactible and hence the device would not be operational.

To get the vital data off your HD, get a good working HD and attach it to your PC as the master and enable the HD you want data from as the Slave.

This will make your computer boot from the Master and when its up, you would have access to the slave which is the HD you want access to and get the data from Windows Explorer

Try the following to see if it's helpful:

1) Turn the computer on

2) Press F2 to enter the BIOS ( a grey screen should come up)

3) Turn on caps lock, scroll lock and num lock on your keybord

4) Press Alt +E then Alt +F then Alt +B

If that doesn't work you can pull the CMOS battery to clear the BIOS. It is on the board and resembles a watch battery. You have to pull it for no less than 15 minutes to clear the BIOS.

Hi just installed Windows XP Pro on a Dell Dimension 3000 with 1 gig RAM. This machine was running W2000 pro with no problems. But after formatting the drive and installing Windows XP pro and all updates...

Well you definately tried everything I would have sudgested.
It sounds like the Hard drive is near the end of its life.
If you have only just installed windows, it may be worth getting a new drive, installing your OS on that, you could then use the other drive as extra storage.
I have had a few HD that started to fail. Maybe the format and installation pushed it over the edge. You could always run maxtors drive check tool to see if it can detect a problem.( maxtor is now seagate)

I recently moved and when i went to start up my computer it takes me to a blue screen say memory is being dumped. Prior to that though there is a screen saying that a "0 drive" can not be found. Any idea...

Your 0 Drive is the main hard disk drive in your computer. That is where Windows is installed. If the pc doesn't see it, it cannot start. If you've moved, the hard drive cable or power connection may have come loose. You can try opening the case and reseating all connections and see if that works. If not, it's possible your hard drive is damaged and not working.

DVD drive Read problem in my Dell Dimension 3000

Make sure you have any and all Windows 7 updates from Microsoft, along with any updates for your DVD drive for use with Windows 7. Some components work fine using Vista SP2 drivers, but some will need an update to work with Windows 7.

This Microsoft site might help verify if your DVD drive is compatible with Windows 7:

We are planning to use our Dell Dimension 3000 for security alone. A friend told us to get a terabyte hard drive to support the software and video recording. What type do we need to interface with our pc.

Any brand name external USB drive should be good. Just a suggestion...Staples has a Seagate 1TB drive for $69.99 this Friday from 6 - 10 AM. That is a good deal.

Seagate, Maxtor, or Western Digital all are reputable companies.

Hope this helps.

Thanks for using Fixya.

Quantum Fireball lct 30gig not recognized in Dell Dimension 3000

Turns out this particular drive needs TWO jumpers on it, to set it to CS. I received it used with a single jumper in the Master position, but after checking the Maxtor/Quantum website, it listed the jumper positions and showed the second jumper. As soon as I installed the TWO jumpers in the correct position, the Dimension 3000 booted right up and let me reinstall Windows. I had scoured the internet for many hours looking for a solution, none solved it until I decided to check the manufacturers website. Always start there!- Solved!

If you mean you need to install windows, you need to set your cdrom drive as first boot device in advanced bios settings or it will try to boot into a non-existent windows. Make sure your hdd is showing as the master drive, save settings and exit bios. Re-boot pc with windows disc in cd drive and hit enter when prompted to boot from cd.
