Question about Troy Bilt Tb70ss Gas Trimmer

1 Answer

Troybilt cultivator/edger starts, but dies under load

Already done: replace plug, clean carb.
Is there supposed to be a fluid in the crankcase if one opens the plug there? If so what is it? Could this be my problem?

Yes if it is a 4 cycle
with trimmer LEVEL Take out the plug and the oil level should be at the bottom of the threads where you took the cap off.
sae 30 weight is the oil to use
It can be a problem if you have no oil in the crankcase.
Be sure your stop button is where it belongs and go thru the procedures listed on trimmer to start it
fresh gas and if it is a 4 cycle you need not to mix oil and gas for this trimmer

I have a troybilt 7000 gas generator that trips the main output breaker when under a load after 5 minutes

1. Make sure that the generator limit is not being exceeded.
2. Try checking and raising the rpm. If the engine can not sustain the load from the generator, it can/will trip the breaker.
3. If the carb is dirty or the engine runs poorly it can trip the breaker. Tune up the engine, clean the carb, make carb adjustments to correct substandard running conditions.

Troybilt trimmer misfires under load, runs smooth with no load

try mixing a new batch of fuel/oil mix gas is only good for 30 days in small engines

What else could cause my troybilt cultivator to not run?

spay starting fluid in the air filter if it fires then you have a carb/fuel problem (keep in mind small engines need fuel 30 days or newer )if no fire on starting fluid check for spark if you have spark good fresh fuel remove the muffler and try it again if it runs with the muffler off then open the muffler and clean the screen iside

Starting mac 3227 trimmer

As you have done most things, i would suggest you have a massive air leak, either through the cylinder or crankcase gasket, or through the crank seal, i think its time to pull the whole engine down and replace these items.

Runs good for 2-3 min, then dies

I would try using some solvent to clean the carb. It sounds like the float valve is not moving freely, therefore not letting enough fuel into the carb. Be careful though, solvent can be a bit rough on the engine, so be sure to drain it out of the fuel bowl and replace with the appropriate fuel before starting the engine.

Troy Bilt edger dies as soon as its under a load--like edging my driveway.

The only real explanation for this is that a tiny piece of dirt has gotten into one of the tiny fuel jets. Remove the carb and blow it out thoroughly with compressed air.

The engine will not throttle up and it runs rough. Dies at an idle. Whats wrong Already changed spark plug and put new gas in

Sounds like the carb is needing a good cleaning. Get a spray can of Berryman's Carb spray cleaner.
Take the carb off and clean the carb bowl (if it's a 4 stroke motor) and remove the gas line, and with the spray tube nozzle, spray out as much of the jets, orifices, etc in your carb, let it dry out and reassemble.
Also, take the air filter/cleaner off and make sure it's clean. If it's full of dust and dirt, it will choke the carb off and it'll die at idle.
You can test this by removing the air filter element and starting the tiller. Alot of the small engines have a low oil sensing device and will shut down the engine if there is insufficient oil in the crankcase... be sure to check that too.
Let me know how it goes.
