Question about HP Office Equipment & Supplies

'door is open' message

I have inherited a c4380 printer from a friend and cannot get it to print because of the above message. I think it may be a sensor somewhere but cannot find a maintenance manual to help me locate it and fix/disable it. Any ideas how many doors the 'door is open' message might apply to? Any way of seeing a maintenance manual that shows where the sensor might be? I am sure this is not a difficult problem to fix.

Hi,

Sounds like the sensor is probably bad, does the printer give any indication when its closed or open? if nothin happens either way then its bad. hp consideres these throw away models so you probably are not going to find a new sensor. hp would want you to send it to them or buy a refurb. Also try this.Try taking the cartridge out and making sure everything is put in the right place correctly, sometimes a little details matters. And also make sure nothing is obstructing the printer when you close it.

Personal Suggestion: Depending upon your necessity and budget , my advice spend very little time on it, & go take a look at a new printer.

Thank You

Error 1250 on PIXMA ip4300 printer. Despite open tray messae will not o away or allow printing to start.

Hello,

the error message means there is something wrong with the printer and if the problem is not attended to, the error message will not go away.

In this case, the error message showing on your canon ip4300 is related to a door problem. It has something to do with the front door of your printer. I think the front door of your printer is closed of which is supposed to be opened.

So, the solution is to Open the paper output tray of your printer and the problem should be solved.

Good luck.

Error message: "Door Open"

HI there,
Follow the steps below:
Step one: Close the print cartridge access door
1.Verify that the print cartridge access door is completely closed. It may appear to be closed, but if it is not completely closed, the error message will display. Verify that there are no obstructions blocking the door.
2.If you are unsure how to close the print cartridge access door on your model, consult your User Guide for more information.
Figure 1: Examples of closing the print cartridge access door (your model may vary)
f3e57be.gif If you have attempted to completely close the access door and the error still appears, there may be a problem with the door sensor and the unit may require service.

Step two: Service your product
If you have completed all the steps listed above and are still experiencing a problem, service the product.

Good Luck!!!

Open Door. Clear carriage jam, and then press Enter

Sounds like you have a jam. Open the back of the printer and checl for any paper large or small. If there is no paper, just opening the door and closing it may get rid of the message. All it takes is a piece of paper the diameter of a pea to send a signal that there is a paper jam. After yuou have finished close the door and push enter to let the printer know you are finished. See if this helps. I don't think it has anything to do with the ink cartridges. It sounds more like something stuck causing the jam. Be sure not to have anything like a staple attached to the paper you are printing on to. A speck of dirt could casue a jam message too.

HP C4380, Wireless Printing Problem

Do you have other printer drivers installed, if so thre may be a driver conflict. wireless printing requires network connection and also printer drivers. This appears to be a driver issue since the printer shows up on the network. I would try reinstalling the drivers.
