Check the high-limit switches. Under the inlet/outlet header. if either is open it will not allow you to fire up. my 150 degree switch was corroded and after jump9ng out, bam it worked.

The service person replaced the fusible link on my LAARS Lite 2 heater. It worked for a while, but then it stopped (won't turn on or heat). I removed the two wires from the fusible link and shorted them...

The fuse link is a saftey for flame that is rolling up into the cabnet,There are a few things that will make this happen, down drafting from wind, cloged flue, burners cloged, gas pressure.Turn it on with the cover off and stand back look to see if any flames are rolliing up near the fuse link.

I HAve old Teledyne Laars pool heater. When I try to light the pilot it a larger flame creeps out from the pilot. IS this a pilot generator issue. Also any links to old terradyne manuals ?

The aluminium has gotten old in the pilot tube and is starting to leak. You can just replace the tube but when you start disturbing the pilot it can lead to other problems. I would sugest getting a whole new pilot assembly and replaceing the whole thing. If it that old be sure to ask for propane or natural gas when you order the part.
I don't know about old books online but you can write to Laars and ask them. They are under Jandy-Laars now.

Pilot wont light //suspect corrosion, connections..

If your pilot assembly is corroded, you will have trouble lighting the pilot.
I would highly recommend replacing the pilot assembly. By doing this, you will have a new pilot generator that will be producing a larger amount of voltage to run the gas valve. Also, you will have a clean pilot tube and orifice so gas can run unobstructed.

Gas pool heater pilot will not stay lit

Depending on the make and model of your heater, the first thing I would check for is gas pressure. If it is sufficient, check the pilot assembly for corrosion and/or a damaged pilot tube. Sometimes replacing the entire pilot assembly is a sure fix and also replaces the pilot generator that degrades over time. A new pilot assembly takes care of a couple of problems by improving gas flow and millivolts generated. Also, the orifice inside the pilot assembly could be corroded or clogged.

Laars LX400P pool heater Hi Limit Switch light is on? ???Fix?

This indicator normally means that your water temperature in the pool heater exceeds the internal limit. The corrosion should not be causing this problem. Since the high temperatures can be dangerous, you will probably have to contact a pool professional to service the machine.
