Eeepc has no icons, just blue screen, can't access anything! Linux

I have an Asus EeePC 701SD running on linux. It has suddenly decided not to show any of the desktop icons. All i have is a blue screen. On the tool bar at the bottom i am missing other icons such as the wireless symbol, battery levels/mains charge. I have tried to do a factory restore, but it doesn't seem to have that option! It won't let me do anything!!! HELP!!!!

No i haven't got the icon. I have changed the windows by a menu that comes up just before you put it to zzzzzzz, and all 4 of the screen are the same blue.

    The icons i have are

Home, autopower saving, update installation (none pending) english input language, the clock, an orange ! then :) the a no-entry sign

    that's all i have.

    Any more ideas?

When I was using Linux, there were 4 screens. On the bottom an icon showed which screen I was on. If you have that Icon, click the main screen (upper left) and you should be OK. Let me know if this works.

If clicking the upper left of the 4 screens or clicking on home don't work, I'm stumped too.

Hi,
a 6ya expert can help you resolve that issue over the phone in a minute or two.
best thing about this new service is that you are never placed on hold and get to talk to real repairmen in the US.
the service is completely free and covers almost anything you can think of (from cars to computers, handyman, and even drones).
click here to download the app (for users in the US for now) and get all the help you need.
goodluck!

SOURCE: Bluetooth fails to start on EeePC 701sd (Linux)

I don't think your EeePC 701sd has bluetooth.
Check the specifications of the various models:

You it really is important for you, you might buy nd install a bluetooth adapter that is supported by Linux (it seems most of them are). Check the Linux forums, though, for advice

There is a free program that you can run called Ophcrack. You can download this for free. You can find the file by doing a Google search for it. Good luck!

EeePC 701 that no longer detects wireless access points

some eeepcs have an auto-down load facility that upgrades certain items(firefox for example) andother items ,i found once i had upgraded these items the wi-fi wouldnt enable as efficiently as before--i can't point you to specific code but if you re-install the OS(Linux Xandros) from base and switch off the updates,by going to "settings" then choose "installing/removing software" then choose "preferences" you can partially stop these auto-downloads and from a new base configuration install you might find your wi-fi works again.
press F9 whilst booting to get to the install OS screen ,you will have three choices whichever you choose (highlight) then press "E" then press "B" and this is how you re-install

When i bought the computer i had no broblem connecting to the internet, now all of a sudden i cant connect.

Have you changed the configuration settings of your network?
And have you updated your system? There is an update that deals with the difficulty of Eeepc connecting to WPA protected networks.
Also, my experience tells me that although the Eeepc detects the networks easily, it doesn't always connect and it is prone to blockages, that force us to recconnect. So I set my definitions manually on my Eeepc and everything runs smoothlier.
