Are you using the original cable that came with it?
When I connect mine with a different cable it makes strange noises and never shows up.

Number one rule, don't write anything to the drive. This includes a checkdisk or scandisk.
Get a copy of a program called file scavenger and do a long scan, its only a demo but it will let you know if your data is recoverable. If it is then you could purchase it at the nominal fee they offer it for or try and download a copied version on the net and probably end up with viruses.

If the disk contains important files see a good disk recovery company.

How to recover my files from HD? I have Western Digital External hard Drive 500 GB.It was nearly full, such there was only 50 gb free space. Day by day it worked slow and one day It stopped working, not...

First thing first - STOP using your WD drive immediately! If you continue using the disk drive, you significantly increase the risk that the files you want to recover will be lost forever due to overwritten. Every new file or action will take up more "free space" and reduce your chances of retrieving your deleted files from WD. The next step - get a good HDD data recovery software to retrieve the data as most as possible.

If this is really important data you have there, I wouldn't recommend trying to fix things based on suggestions you get online, as it's always guesswork more or less when you try to fix things remotely. Now it's crucial not to increase the level of damage to the information on the disk.
It should be inspected by an experienced IT professional.

Western Digital 250 GB MyBook external HDD not responding

If you've tried removing the disk-drive from the casing, and attaching it as a "slave" drive in some desktop computer, and you still have the problem, then you have a _BIG_ problem. Search online for a professional (and not inexpensive!) "Data Recovery Service". They should be able to disassemble and repair your disk-drive, just long-enough to extract all your precious files, and copy the files to DVD-recordable media or to a brand-new disk-drive.

Wiping WD hard drive

I suggest that you use Darik's Boot and Nuke ("DBAN")application to completely Esare the Hard Drive. It is a freeware application.

Darik's Boot and Nuke ("DBAN") is a self-contained boot disk that securely wipes the hard disks of most computers. DBAN will automatically and completely delete the contents of any hard disk that it can detect, which makes it an appropriate utility for bulk or emergency data destruction.

My ACER laptop does a system check every time I start it up

I would be concerned as well. Sounds to me like a hard drive that is about to go bad. If you can get into windows, click Start > Run > and type "CMD" to open a command prompt. After that enter CHKntfs /X C: and press enter. That should stop the startup check disk from running.

I would also recommend that you run a defrag, and also use the Western Digital DLG program, it will tell you if you have any disk errors and if you need to replace the Hard Drive. Here's the link:

I just used this tool last week to fix a customer's laptop for them. Works great and is on the money.

I can't open or view my data in Western Digital hard drive

You have to be more specific in order to receive help.
You said: "Last week my hard drive was fallen down on the floor.
Was it in a desktop or laptop & how did it fall on the floor? Did it jump out of the computer or did you drop the computer? What do you consider to be a hard drive?
