SOURCE: no sound since installing xp

Unfortunately your best bet on your Inspriron 531s is to go back to Vista. According to Dell, this system was specifically setup to run Vista and, therefore, no XP drivers are guaranteed to work on this model. Most of the time for onboard devices, if they are not listed on the site, they are usually native to the operating system and do not require a driver download. Dell does, however, have some XP drivers for this model listed on their support site here

http://support.dell.com/support/downloads/driverslist.aspx?os=WW1&osl=EN&catid=-1&impid=-1&servicetag=&SystemID=INSP_DSKTP_D531S&hidos=WW1&hidlang=en

The only audio driver listed is for a Creative Labs X-Fi sound card and I am not sure that is what you have. Your best bet is to uninstall your sound card drivers, reboot, then install these. Good Luck

It appears you may have installed to wrong audio driver.
To download the correct audio driver then download the drivers from Dell WEB site, the support download page. Make sure you select your model desktop or laptop, better still, type in the Service Tag number, it is printed on the label on the bottom of the laptop and on the back or sides of a desktop. (If the Service Tag label is missing then go into the BIOS setting and on one of the BIOS pages, the Service Tag number will be displayed). This will open the page where the specific drivers for your model computer are located. Also make sure you select the Windows XP or Vista version of the drivers for your Windows operating system. Click on this link to download the drivers: -

hi your computer is not seing the driver of your sound card, you may need to download updated driver for it, you can search for the drivers of your sound card online, you can also find that on the computer manufacturers website.

to see the status of your devices go to device manager for more info.

right click on my computer icon>properties>hardware tab>device manager.

you can also uninstall, reinstall, and update device drivers here.

hope this helps.

Audio driver not load on 5920 after loading XP sp2

Remove the device first from control panel,
select your sound device,remove,
Reboot and restart,
Now install the device drivers via device manager,
select the yellow question marked device,
right click and update
put in disk when wizard prompts you
let wizard find correct drivers and it should be all good
reboot and do SP2 updates for windows,
This will give the devices the correct instructions and work.

Hope this works out for you,
