Your earpiece device could be faulty and needs a replacement

Try this steps to detect which could be the fault.

1. Take another earpiece andf insert it on your device. if you pick the sounds clearly on both sides then the former earpiece is bad. But if the problem still persist then get a technician to look at the earpiece port on your device.

Does sony walkman Nwza17 provide great sound using excellent earphones (as opposed to headphones)?

If the player really can play flac and has a good DA converter, I think it is one of the best portable music players around.
I do use Shure SE425 and Stax RS-001 MK2 earphones (both in ear) I think the Sony NWZA17 would be a good match for both phones.
I use very expensive sound cards in my computer and only play Flac or real CD. Be aware not the amount of bits or the sample rate is important. The source used to make the digital recording decides how the result, coming out of you speakers (or earphones) can be.
My earphones can keep up with my electrostatic loudspeakers, so worth trying. If money is no issue the Shure SE535 would be great. Although more expensive than the Sony MWZA17. But once you have great earphones, they can be used for many years to come. The player will be replaced in at least 3 to 5 years

I have humming noise from earphones connection Minidisc MZ -N1

Are you using an AC adapter, or running it on batteries? If 'wall-wort' AC adapter, that's the issue. If you're running it on batteries, sounds like a bad ground, try different earphone/headphones and see if the hum goes away. With the 2nd pair of headphones/earphones, does the hum go away, or if you wiggle the headphone jack back and forth a little bit?

Headphone problem

Hi there and welcome at Fixya, the support team (lfete)

Please try with another pair of earphones and see if it works :O)

If it works with the another earphones, then you have to check yours :

1.See if the cable and connectors are ok
2.Try to move the cable a little bit all the way (you can move it up and down)
3.Then be sure that it is inserted the whole way in, some times you can connect the earphone nearly in to the product, that means one of the right/left side will not play.
If is still not working please return here again

Hope it helps

Have a nice time over there

HEADPHONE JACK DOES NOT WORK.Player works and will play through PC speakers when connected via UBS port, but no volume through headphones... checked headphones with a DVD player and they work, but not with...

what kind of headphones do you have??? some Mp3s cannot supply enough power to those big headphones out of the market right now... try to use a earbud or earphone first and if they are not working it means that the jack is defective

2 sets of headphones will play only on left earphone.

Dirt inside of the headphone jack can be the culprit. If you have canned air, you can blow it out, or twist the headphone connector inside the jack to clean the contacts.

Keeps skipping and like there a short in the earphones. I got new earphone and still did the same thing.

You will need to get that player replaced if it was doing the same thing with two different sets of headphones. Then again, headphones in mp3 players are sensitive - if you turn and twist the headphone jack around too much, then you will get serious distortion.
